Zoë Kravitz, who is playing Catwoman in Matt Reeves' The Batman, says that she wakes up every day hoping the production will be able to start filming again. Kravitz will appear in the new DC film alongside Robert Pattinson's Batman, in a fresh take on the titular character.

Production on The Batman had to be shut down in mid-March due to the coronavirus pandemic, along with many other films and TV shows in the world, and as a result The Batman release date has been pushed back to October 2021. The film, which is speculated to be inspired by the comic book The Long Halloween, had started rolling cameras back in January, but had only completed around a quarter of its production schedule by the time of the shutdown, according to Reeves.

In an interview with Variety, Kravitz expressed her frustration at the shutdown, saying that she is "hoping to wake up every day to an email or a phone call saying, 'We’re ready to go.'" However the actor, like everyone else, has no clue when that call will come. Despite this, Kravitz is keeping communication lines with the production open, going on to say, "I'm in touch with everybody, and everyone’s ready to go when it’s safe."

Kravitz also mentions the complications that come with being suited up. Aside from having to deal with large crews all potentially sharing small spaces like studios, make-up trailers and others typically associated with large movie productions, actors on superhero films have the added burden of wearing complex costumes, that require help from other crew . She says:

"You have people just touching your face, touching your body all day long. I need help getting into the catsuit. I can’t do it on my own. I was probably touched more than any job, just because of the clothes and the combat and all of that."

Kravitz's words echo those of her co-star, with hasn't been keeping up with his workout regime, though that isn't necessarily a bad thing.

The fact that Kravitz is so keen to get back to filming is a good sign for DC fans, as it means the star is invested in the role and believes in the material. It bodes well, as screen interpretations of Catwoman have not always turned out for the best (as seen in the case of Halle Berry's Catwoman movie). Whenever the cameras do get rolling again, it's clear that Kravitz and her co-stars will be raring to go, ready to get The Batman before fans' eyes in October 2021.
