Over the weekend, Gunn celebrated the anniversary of Martha and Jonathan Kent, as they made their DC Comics debut all the way back in 1939. In the comments of his Instagram post, a fan took the chance to ask Gunn if he could clarify the latest DC Universe rumors, this time being about the Booster Gold TV show. When asked by carloseduardomendes001 if "the rumor that Booster Gold will be recorded on July 8th true? Will it be the next big DCU series after Peacemaker Season 2 or will it be Amanda Waller's series," Gunn gave the following statement:

Fans are finally getting what they want - a Booster Gold tv show in the new DCU, but now the question is who should play the one-of-a-kind hero?

Why James Gunn Is Right Not To Rush Booster Gold

While Gunn may not have cleared up when the Booster Gold TV show will happen, DC Studios is right to take their time with the series. When it comes to the DC brand in live-action, especially as far as cinematic universes go, Warner Bros. Discovery has taken a lot of hits, as several of the final DCEU movies were massive box office bombs. That is why Gunn's DC Universe should take the proper time it needs when it comes to all of their movies and TV shows.

Right now, Gunn's Superman movie and Peacemaker season 2 are what he is focusing on for Chapter 1, "Gods and Monsters." If the show is still at a point where it is not creatively ready, there is no need to get Booster Gold filming underway, especially as they don't even have their lead yet. Since Booster Gold is also a lesser-known DC superhero, they may still be working out how he factors into the new DC Universe, as Gunn is likely eyeing him to become a bigger name.

With the fun stories that exist in Booster Gold's DC Comics history, there is a lot of potential for his live-action series on Max. Even if it takes another year or two for Booster Gold to arrive, it will definitely be worth the wait if the creative team gets to properly flesh it out. Hopefully, more news on Booster Gold will arrive in the near future as he gets ready for his DC Universe debut.
