Capcom’s mysterious new IP Death Stranding with its sci-fi themes and incredibly mysterious premise. It was initially announced by Capcom to be released sometime in 2022 for the PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

The release date of Pragmata was also seemingly revealed back during the massive Capcom leak that occurred back in November 2020 which saw the details of many of the company’s titles revealed to the public, including many of their release dates. Interestingly, while Pragmata wasn’t explicitly named in the leak, one of the titles that was listed was called "Regolith," which many took to be the codename for Pragmata. Although, the leak listed that title for a fiscal year 2021 release, which would be inaccurate as the game has previously been announced for a 2022 release and is way beyond that leaked release window.

Now we have some more reliable new details on the game’s release date. During Sony’s CES 2021 digital event, the PS5 and some of the games that had been previously announced to be released for it, including Pragmata, were teased in a short showcase trailer. In the end card of the presentation, the release windows of several of the titles were displayed and revealed that the release window of Pragmata has been moved to sometime in 2023, a rather large difference from its initially announced 2022 release date.

Given that the change in the game’s release was only shown in the presentation’s endcard, it’s unclear why Capcom has decided to move the release of its new IP a year back, but it wouldn’t be surprising if the ongoing pandemic has affected Capcom’s development plans for the next few years for many of its titles. And with so many major titles currently in development at the company, including Monster Hunter Rise, Resident Evil Village, and a whole lot more, the difficulties presented by the pandemic could definitely ripple across all of its in-development games.

It might be a while until we know more about Pragmata apart from its release window. There’s also the chance that it could be delayed another time, which wouldn’t be surprising given the number of video game release delays that have occurred or been announced in the past year, with one of the most recent being third delay since it was announced.
