However, Diablo 4's character customization gives more freedom than its predecessors, which might help make up for the lack of new classes.
Necromancer Proves Blizzard Is Being Too Safe With Diablo 4's Classes
After the lackluster launch of Diablo 3 followed by Diablo Immortal quickly earning the title of Blizzard's worst-ranked game, Blizzard needs Diablo 4 to redeem the franchise. Diablo Immortal was ruined by microtransactions, and Blizzard doesn't seem to be including anything quite so severe in Diablo 4, limiting its paid content to cosmetics and story expansions, which solves one of the biggest problems of the most recent Diablo game. Sticking too closely to the style and set-up of Diablo 2 will make Diablo 4 too predictable and could take away from the feeling of experiencing a new game with a new world. Even if Blizzard is unwilling to take big risks with Diablo 4, which the necromancer class seems to indicate, it should encourage its creative team to make sure that the game feels fresh and exciting.
