As the most powerful superhero team in DC Comics, the Justice League is prepared for anything and assesses threats as they arise, which is why the underrated hero Starman and his ultra-powerful weapon the Gravity Rod have not escaped their notice. The Justice League brings together heroes from all over the galaxy to fight bad guys, establishing a legacy that will continue far into the future with a constantly changing roster. John Carpenter's filmography includes some of the greatest sci-fi movies ever made, and here's a look at all of them ranked from worst to best. While closely tied to horror, Carpenter's career has been quite varied; from sci-fi to comedy and satire, there's hardly a genre he hasn't tackled. Legacy is one of the main themes in James Robinson and Tony Harris' 1994 Starman series. Jack Knight, son of the original Starman Ted Knight, has to accept his place as the newest Starman when his brother David's career is cut short by an assassin's bullet. Although he accepted the destiny he's mocked and denied for most of his life on his own , Jack came to appreciate and even love his role as Starman, Opal City's guardian superhero. Jack would discover that legacy and destiny are distant cousins when his role as Starman proved to be critical in shaping the destiny of one of the greatest heroes in DC Comics history: Superman.

Jack Knight didn't need a Delorean to get to 1951 but he should have learned a lesson from Marty McFly about what happens when you meet one's parents in the past. In his last adventure as Starman, Jack magically ended up in 1951 where he discovered the Starman of 1951 was his brother David, who was mysteriously plucked minutes away from his tragic death, and his father Ted Knight has retired from the role due to mental illness. As he tries to ascertain the reason for his presence in the past, Jack's actions will not only help to ensure his father returns to his responsibilities as the original Starman but also that his father and mother will meet thus cementing his existence completely. Great Scott, indeed!

The 1980s was the decade of excess, and that was certainly true for films in the romance genre. It produced some of the most unconventional, torrid, and star-crossed movies of all time, and while many romantics gravitated towards When Harry Met Sally, Dirty Dancing, and Pretty in Pink, there were several forgotten films that showed love in a variety of tender, tragic and uplifting ways.

Bad Times at the El Royale star Jeff Bridges says he wants to reunite with Karen Allen for a sequel to 1984’s John Carpenter-directed Starman. Released two years after E.T. opened the floodgates on movies about friendly aliens, Starman starred Bridges as an extra-terrestrial visiting the earth, taking on the form of widow Allen’s dead husband. The two then went on a road trip that ended, just like E.T., with Starman going home.
