Elizabeth Olsen’s confirmed role in a 2025 MCU project has left me disappointed about Scarlet Witch’s return. Wanda Maximoff memorably died in Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness after finally becoming the Scarlet Witch in WandaVision. Following Agatha All Along, and other projects in the MCU timeline, it seemed the franchise was hinting at her comeback in major ways. However, her scheduled return feels like a letdown compared to the grand re-entry I was hoping for.

As fans can look forward to finally seeing Wanda Maximoff in the Marvel Cinematic Universe again next year, Elizabeth Olsen is finally opening up about getting another go with Scarlet Witch. Following her demise in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, 2025 will finally mark the year that Olsen comes back to the MCU. However, this will not be in the live-action side of the MCU timeline, but rather through an animated release, providing an unexpected return for both the character and actor.

Marvel Studios confirms Elizabeth Olsen will be returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2025 as part of the cast of an project. Olsen last appeared in the MCU in 2022, playing Scarlet Witch in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. There, Olsen's Marvel character took a villainous turn thanks to being corrupted by the Darkhold and became a fearsome foe for Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) as she sought to use the powers of America Chavez (Xochitl Gomez) to travel the multiverse and reunite with her sons.

Marvel Studios' 2025 animated projects seem to be on track to fill a big void in the MCU. Following the success of the Infinity Saga, Marvel Studios ventured into long-form storytelling with Disney+ shows such as WandaVision, Loki, and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Phase 4 also featured a single animated MCU animated show — Marvel's What If...?, which opened the door for a few other animated releases in Phase 5.

A new version of Blade is set to debut in Marvel Animation's Marvel Zombies series, proving Wesley Snipes' Blade from Deadpool & Wolverine very wrong. Before Mahershala Ali is introduced as the new Eric Brooks, a.k.a. Blade, in the MCU, Wesley Snipes reprised the role from the Blade trilogy, which ran between 1998 and 2004. Snipes returned in Deadpool & Wolverine alongside the likes of Jennifer Garner's Elektra, Dafne Keen's Laura and Hugh Jackman's Wolverine, each paying respect to, and making jokes about, their previous stints in their respective superhero movies.

A major Marvel Cinematic Universe sizzle reel has been revealed, unveiling footage for multiple 2025 TV shows. The Hollywood strikes in 2023, as well as Disney's shifting strategies, had a big impact on the Marvel timeline and its release schedule for 2024. However, 2025 will be a different story for both the big and small screens when it comes to Phases 5 and 6.

Marvel Animation's Marvel Zombies series is the best place for Deadpool & Wolverine's strangest Deadpool variant to be explored in more detail. Even though Marvel Zombies is expected to be set in an alternate timeline to the main continuity of the MCU, the much anticipated series will still include several characters that have already been seen in live-action. Marvel Zombies' cast of characters includes the likes of Ms. Marvel, Shang-Chi, Yelena Belova and more, and could now include none other than Deadpool himself.
