While The Conners season 7 ended the Roseanne franchise once and for all, the sitcom’s many forgotten plot lines highlight just how disappointing an ending this was. The Conners series finale focused on Dan’s failed attempt to get a pharmaceutical company to acknowledge their role in Roseanne’s opioid overdose years earlier. Although The Conners season 7 was a letdown, Roseanne’s spinoff did at least acknowledge one major problem with the show’s final outing. The Conners’ large cast of characters was always a problem for the sitcom spinoff. The show started life as Roseanne back in 1988 and the popular family sitcom was revived in 2017, but series star Roseanne Barr was fired from the show thanks to racist tweets in 2018. Roseanne became The Conners, shifting its focus from the title character to the rest of her family.

It wasn't easy, but ABC couldn't have hoped for the show's performance, as The Conners has been embraced by old and new fans.

The producers of The Conners reveal that they reached out to George Clooney about reprising his Roseanne role and reveal his candid response. The hour-long series finale of The Connerswill premiere on April 23 at 8 PM on ABC and stream the next day on Hulu. It'll bring an end to the spinoff, but also serve as a last farewell to the Roseanne series. It's an opportunity to bring back several familiar faces, though one two-time Oscar winner politely declined the request to reprise his role.
