Many agree that Tracker season 2 couldn't live up to the high expectations set by season 1, and accordingly, Colter Shaw couldn't live up to his "skilled survivalist and tracker" name in the latter episodes. Tracker has built a successful two seasons thanks to its unique procedural format, but I welcome one confirmed character change for season 3. The series follows Colter Shaw (Justin Hartley) as he travels the country tracking down missing people in exchange for the reward money offered for their return. He is aided in his unusual job by a group of allies who are not often out in the field with him, but are still a huge part of his story.

In the season 2 finale of Tracker, we finally see Colter (Justin Hartley) begin to unravel the mystery behind his father's death. Throughout the series, questions have been raised about what happened to Ashton Shaw, the things he was involved in, and even how Colter's mother, Mary, ties into all of it. The way the show is handling this plotline is becoming frustrating for many because it feels like it's just dancing around a great story, but is too afraid to tell it. However, the Tracker season 2 ending has given fans a glimpse of hope that next season will finally address its neglected central mystery.

The first two seasons of Tracker indicate the show has a winning formula, but a change in Tracker season 3 could help make sure viewers do not get bored with the current format. Tracker sees Colter Shaw (Justin Hartley) travel around the United States while picking up missing persons cases for the reward money. He is a very good investigator, but nearly every episode of the series is currently set up the same way.

One of his father's carvings, in the trailer of a trafficker, took him to a man who knew Ashton (Lee Tergesen), and Colter finally learned who was responsible for his death.

Tracker season 2 came to a breathtaking conclusion with the episode "Echo Ridge", which took Colter Shaw (Justin Hartley) back to his childhood home and brought him one step closer to unraveling the mystery of his darkest family secret. However, showrunner Elwood Reid has clarified that while Colter now knows his mother was involved in his father's death, it does not necessarily mean she ordered the hit on him. The answers he received in the Tracker season 2 finale merely open the door to several more questions.

CBS struck gold with their exciting procedural series Trackerthroughout its first two seasons thus far, and the network has picked the show up for season 3.
