Now that it has been a year since Young Sheldon’s ending, I fear we are further away than ever from finally seeing one of The Big Bang Theory's promises come to fruition. The Big Bang Theory’s finale wrapped up a lot of unfinished plots, even if Raj’s love life felt like something of an afterthought. Sheldon and Amy won the Nobel Prize, the show’s trio of central couples were all happy together, and, in a twist that Vulture’s Kathryn VonArendonk noted felt out of place, Penny even revealed she was pregnant.

Although Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage ostensibly names its lead characters right in the show's title, Young Sheldon’s spinoff has gradually revealed its true hero throughout season 1. Georgie and Mandy’s fate inYoung Sheldon’s finale was somewhat surprising for fans of The Big Bang Theory. The couple were happily married and co-parenting their young daughter when the spinoff ended, but viewers know that they don’t stay that way. When Georgie’s older self was introduced in The Big Bang Theory season 11, episode 23, “The Sibling Realignment,” he referred to an “Ex-wife.”

There have been plenty of TV shows featuring precocious kids, but few have reached the level of shows like Young Sheldon. Premiering in 2017 on CBS, Young Sheldon acted as a prequel to the extremely popular Big Bang Theory and focused on the childhood of Sheldon Cooper from that hit sitcom. With Iain Armitage playing a young Sheldon and Jim Parsons providing voice-over as an adult looking back on his youth, it showed fans why Sheldon became the character he would be on TBBT, while also struggling to keep his continuity intact.

The Young Sheldon seasons ranked reveal that none of them were bad, and it was also just a nice chance to further capitalize on the immense popularity of The Big Bang Theory's most popular character. Granted that the idea for the show didn't start as a spin-off for the nerd-centric sitcom, Jim Parsons's involvement made it easier to workshop it to become a prequel show for his fan-favorite character. The original idea for Young Sheldon was for it to be an origin story for Sheldon Cooper, based on his penchant for telling stories about his childhood in Texas.
