An overview trailer for Elden Ring Nightreign has given the first look at many of the Nightfarers' alternate cosmetics, including some inspired by iconic outfits from Dark Souls and Bloodborne. The so-called Fashion Souls movement has sprung up around FromSoftware's games, and many sets of armor from the studio's RPGs have become iconic, and now make their way into the co-op roguelite.

The new studio will be collaborating with the Japan-based game publisher and developer, gz.

Despite all the similarities and connections with the Bloodborne franchise, the recently announced The Duskbloods by developer FromSoftware doesn’t carry the series’ title – and there may be a reasonable explanation for the differentiation between both games. The developer recently announced the new title during the April 2025 Nintendo Direct event, centered around new information about the Nintendo Switch 2, from its lineup of games and hardware changes compared to the original console. The Nintendo Switch 2’s Nintendo Direct showcased several different games, such as the new Donkey Kong Bananza and Mario Kart World.

Pretty much every one of these games builds on the number of weapons characters can fight with; Elden Ring, the most recent game in the franchise, has over four times the weapons of the original Dark Souls.

Among the boss monsters that populate FromSoftware's games are some truly grotesque abominations. Elden Ring, Sekiro, Bloodborne, Demon's Souls, and the Dark Souls trilogy take place in worlds torn apart by violence, after all, and it makes sense that some of the protagonists' foes would be physical embodiments of the detritus of their surroundings. From the poison swamp of Blighttown to the subterranean Lake of Rot, these games have some truly disgusting areas that equally disgusting forces call home.

Despite very little being done with the IP since its first game ten years ago, Bloodbornestill remains a firm favorite among fans. Some Soulsborne players claim that this game is the best of the bunch, still beating out Elden Ring and anything from the Darks Souls series thanks to its faster combat and unique, gothic, bloody setting. Ten years later, Bloodborne still has a vice grip on the same audience it introduced itself to on the PS4, and despite no new title or project in the series, more lore has come from an unlikely source.

Although the hype around Shadow of the Erdtree is beginning to fade, fans of From Software Soulslikes can still have something to get excited about in the form of a playable version of Bloodbornefor PC. Released between Dark Souls 2 and Dark Souls 3, Bloodbornehas infamously never received any sort of port, re-release, or sequel past the original PlayStation 4 version of the game, which still suffers from relatively low framerates and limited availability — and, despite several rumors over the year, no official statement has ever indicated that new Bloodborne content is in the works.
