Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster saw the original game in the series return to modern platforms 18 years after its initial release, and eight years after its previous HD remaster. Upon its original release back in 2006, Capcom's title was used to showcase the rendering power of the Xbox 360 with hundreds of zombies appearing on-screen at once. This was achieved by using the Dawn of the Dead-esque premise of survivors trapped in a shopping mall to ensure it was always a busy environment, as players were given the freedom to use a variety of items from different stores to defeat these hordes of the undead, from sporting goods to electric guitars and children's toys, alongside more traditional weapons. 4q3r4h

The Special Forces in Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster are extremely hard to take down in one shot if you do not know exactly what to do. Taking one down can cost you a lot of bullets, and not defeating one is even worse. As they are like a mini-boss, Frank can get a lot of experience and a good weapon for taking one down, but that is somewhat negated by the fact that Frank can also end up getting captured in a worse spot than he was before.

Scoops are timed side missions in Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster. They allow Frank to gain extra Prestige Points (PP) to level up quickly. Certain Scoops also give more story context, or can prevent tragedies from occurring in future days. Several of them require progression in the main story cases, but some are reliant on other Scoops to be completed. If you fail either of the two, that Scoop will be inaccessible until you restart the game.

Psychopaths are human bosses you can find and beat in Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster to progress cases and get powerful new gear. These opponents are people who've gone insane from the stress of the zombie outbreak, attacking you and sometimes keeping other survivors hostage. You need to take down some Psychopaths to move the story forward, but some can only be encountered at specific times.

Depending on what you accomplish, you can witness many different ways Frank's story might end, or even continue.

Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster makes many changes from the original Dead Rising game, including an easier way to unlock the infamous Infinity Mode. This mode puts you in Frank's shoes against zombie hordes for unlimited time, testing how long you can endure endless survival. This remaster makes it less of a hassle to access Infinity Mode, but only after you beat the game on other settings.

Capcom's Dead Rising Deluxe Remastered should serve as a template for how to remaster classic titles moving forward. Re-releasing games is a practice Capcom has always been interested in, from the seven different versions of Street Fighter II to the past few years of the Resident Evil franchise, currently culminating in a somewhat unnecessary remake of Resident Evil 4that saw classic gameplay sections removed in their entirety. That is not the case in Dead Rising Deluxe Remastered.

Dead Rising is a name most zombie gaming fans are familiar with by this point, with Capcom's title using the Dawn of the Dead-esque premise of survivors trapped in a shopping mall during an undead apocalypse to boast the rendering power of the Xbox 360 back in 2006 with hundreds of zombies appearing on-screen at once. The series is also known for giving players the freedom to use a variety of items from sporting goods to electric guitars or even plastic laser swords to fend them off.

Remakes and remasters have become a common part of modern gaming, with the intent of bringing titles up to modern standards. Whether they're always successful in this regard is another matter. Recently, two of my favorite game series from the Xbox 360 era, Dead Rising and BioShock, have been the subject of this topic, but I'll it, the idea of a re-release of both titles has left me cold.

18 years after its initial release and eight years after its HD remaster, Dead Risingwill get another new version: Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster. This is the first release for Capcom’s campier zombie series since 2016, when Dead Rising 4 fell far short of the company’s estimated sales numbers. Now, Dead Rising is crawling back out of the grave for another trip to the Willamette Parkview Mall. However, unlike the zombies in the game, it looks better than it ever has.
