]]>Science fiction icon Flash Gordon is set to return in a full line of new comics and graphic novels. One of the most popular comic strip characters in history, Flash Gordon has captured the imagination of readers worldwide, inspiring Star Wars and numerous other science fiction franchises. Now, King Features, Flash’s rights holders, has teamed up with Mad Cave Studios to bring readers a new line of Flash Gordon comics, including new stories and reprints.Mad Cave Studios announced the acquisition on Twitter, declaring it is partnering with King Features to produce Flash Gordon comics and graphic novels, starting in 2024. Mad Cave revealed more information in a press release on its website, stating that in addition to brand-new adventures starring Flash Gordon and his associates, the publisher plans to reprint classic strips as well. Furthermore, Mad Cave’s middle grade readers imprint, Papercutz, will also publish Flash Gordon stories, with the intention of introducing a new generation to this iconic character; Mad Cave hopes the initiative will “unite fans of all ages in their love for Flash Gordon.” Mad Cave did not announce any specific titles, creators or release dates. Mark Irwin, Mad Cave’s Senior Vice President, cited Flash Gordon’s long history in comics and pop culture as one of the reasons for ing with King Features. ]]>Dick Grayson, the first Robin, is widely known as not only Batman's first sidekick, but quite possibly the first sidekick in comics ever (and certainly one of the most popular and most enduring. First appearing on March 6th, 1940 in the pages of Detective Comics #38, Dick Grayson would be one of the very few sidekicks in both Marvel and DC Comics to actually "graduate" and move on from the role and eventually become Nightwing. In the process, he even left behind his old costume - which was good thinking on his part, seeing as the costume was outright stolen from a Flash Gordon comic that debuted years before the Boy Wonder.
