BioShock and System Shock 2 developer Ken Levine has spoken in an interview about his new company's first game, Judas, and why he doesn't believe AI has any place in its development. The game is an ambitious take on humanity and the different philosophies that govern the way people think and behave. The game has been labeled by many as a spiritual successor to BioShock, but instead of being set in the depths of the ocean, the events of Judas will take place on a spaceship controlled by computers. j222a

As Judas inches closer to finishing development, the public is getting a better idea of what it's shaping up to be, and it's starting to look very much like a spiritual successor to the BioShock games. Very little gameplay has been shown for Judas, but what has been revealed bears a striking resemblance to BioShock's brand of first-person shooter, in which a wide range of superhuman powers are channeled through the player character's hands. The dystopian slant of Judas' game world can't be ignored either, and with BioShock creator Ken Levine at the helm, the similarities are ultimately unsurprising given the game's known route to development.

One of the more surprising announcements from the 2022 Game Awards was Judas, the next game from BioShocklead developer Ken Levine and Ghost Story Games. Leaks and rumors surrounding the next game from Ghost Story may have led some to believe that Judas would be a wholly different experience to BioShock, but during its reveal trailer, it was clear to see tonal and gameplay influences from BioShock on full display. However, Judas could still have surprises in store, if Ken Levine's ambitious design philosophy plays out as intended in the game.

One major reveal at The Game Awards 2022 was a new title from Ken Levine, the creator of the acclaimed BioShockseries. A trailer premiered this new project to the public for the first time, revealing it as a game called Judas coming to PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Although Judas is not an entry in the BioShock series, it already promises to be a better successor to those games than the planned BioShock 4.
