Marvel Comics is set to revisit one of the most pivotal storylines in the history of the X-Menfranchise – and at the center of the "Dark Phoenix Saga" this time around will be Kamala Khan, the powerful young mutant hero, and one of the fastest rising stars in the publisher's vast roster of superpowered characters.

Marvel has explained why it is important that Kamala Khanpreserves her secret identity while operating as the hero Ms. Marvel – and its a reason that most fans might have missed initially. As Kamala explained in the latest issue of her mutant superteam series, NYX, she identifies as Ms. Marvel first, and her identity as a private citizen second.

Kamala Khanhas a new nemesis in Marvel Comics lore, and given the themes of Ms. Marvel season one, his new villain would fit perfectly as a villain for season two. Kamala's cousin Bilal has ed the ani-mutant radical group known as the Truthseekers; now calling himself Truthseeker, he has made it his goal to expose Ms. Marvel's identity – without knowing who is under the mask.
