The fan-favorite character Anansi from Static Shock is going to finally be making his comic book debut this summer. Originally voiced by Carl Lumbly (the DCAU's voice of Martian Manhunter) Anansi first appeared in the seasons three and four episodes "Static in Africa" and "Out of Africa." Despite only appearing in two episodes, the character has received a cult following for his enigmatic personality and fascinating lore. Now, the character is bringing that celebrated lore and charisma to the comics.

DC Comics has announced a special New Talent Showcase one-shot to celebrate the up-and-coming creators of the Milestone Initiative. After launching the Milestone Initiative last year to train and under-represented creators in comics, DC will quite literally showcase the rising talent in a new publication.

After many decades, the comics' industry is finally giving black superheroes their due - and characters like Sam Wilson's Captain America, James Rhodes' War Machine, and Jon Stewart's Green Lantern are no longer subservient to their more-famous white counterparts. Steve Rogers, Tony Stark, Hal Jordan (and Alan Scott before him) were all noticeably white; demographics didn't change, so what did? To answer that question, one must look at the writers of the books themselves, and realize that the creation of comic books is no longer limited to one group of people.

DC Comics teased at New York Comic Con 2022 that its Milestone line of comics would soon have a major impact on the main DC Universe's future. The Milestone Universe has long been home to some fan-favorite characters, and DC's revamped and refreshed takes on those characters have been taking center stage in the recent Milestone books. Now it looks like those books and stories are about to crash into the DCU-proper in the coming year.

Few initiatives left as much of a mark on the comics industry as Milestone Media, and with its return, Comic-Con was the perfect opportunity to catch up with Milestone co-founder Denys Cowan.

Long-time Milestone favorite, Static, finds himself flying through the city with relative newcomer to the Bat-Family, the Signal, and the duo are perfect together.
