With the December 2nd release of Marvel's Midnight Suns, fans are excited to see another turn-based tactical role-playing game that can revolutionize the strategy games marketplace. Of course, including fan-favorite Marvel characters is certainly helping to boost the hype for the game.

With the highly anticipated Victoria III coming out next month on the 25th of October, and the recent release of Dune: Spice Wars after the 2021 Dunemovie premiere, there has been a huge buzz within the grand strategy gaming community. As previous games in the Victoria series have been huge successes, it is clear why the impending release of Paradox Interactive's newest game is gaining so much traction.

Total War: Warhammer III's newest DLC Champions of Chaos, is here, bringing four new legendary Lords and a total of forty-nine different units to the battlefield. Festus the Leechlord, Vilitch the Curseling, Azazel the Prince of Damnation, and Valkia the Bloody each lead new subfactions of the Warriors of Chaos onto the Realms of Chaos campaign map to win favor and glory. Each of the four Champions seek the city of Zanbaijin, an eternal battleground filled with thousands of trapped souls, to claim in the name of their gods and advance their ends in the Great Game.

Creative Assembly, the studio behind Total War, is developing a new franchise entirely in Unreal Engine 5. Creative Assembly has developed a large number of games, though most of the titles have been part of the Total War franchise, including its most recent Total War: Warhammer III. The strategy series is a turn-based, resource management game with real-time tactical battle control. The studio has developed over twenty different Total War games, though Creative Assembly’s other projects include the 2014 survival horror game Alien: Isolation and the sequel to Halo’s real-time strategy game, Halo Wars 2. Now it seems the studio is expanding its repertoire, building a new franchise with a brand-new engine.

The Poxmakers of Nurgle is a playable faction in Total War: Warhammer III led by the Lord of Pestilence, Ku'gath Plaguefather. This monstrous faction of grotesque infantry and beasts offers a slower yet more methodical playstyle, with the primary objective of afflicting the lands with a vicious pox. Likewise, being able to concoct and spread plagues across the world is one of the central mechanics of the Poxmakers of Nurgle. Additionally, their Settlements are characterized by "Cyclical Buildings," meaning that their colonies will grow over time and eventually wither away.

The Seducers of Slaanesh are a playable faction in Total War: Warhammer III led by the Prince of Pleasure and Excess, N'Kari. This faction innately offers improved diplomatic relations with all coalitions and boosts the tribute from vassals by 50%. One prominent aspect of the Slaanesh is N'Kari's ability to spend Favour to execute Seduction. Seduced enemy units will fight for the player's side during combat in Total War: Warhammer IIIand will permanently the Seducers if the battle is one.

The Oracles of Tzeentch is a playable faction in Total War: Warhammer III led by Kairos Fateweaver. Playing as this faction will grant players increased enemy reinforcement time prediction accuracy, decreased battle reinforcement time, and slightly buffed hero action success chance for all characters. Furthermore, the Tzeentch's Kairos Legendary Lord, Kairos Fateweaver, is able to reduce the success chance of enemy hero action while boosting the ambush defense chance of the Lord's army in Total War: Warhammer III. Kairos also allows Tzeentch players to unlock unique items that can be used to customize Kairos' spell selection.

Exiles of Khorne, the playable faction of Khornate daemons in Total War: Warhammer III, offers a wide array of powerful melee units that will claim many skulls for Khorne's throne. Skarbrand the Exiled leads the Exiles of Khorne in a quest to claim the bear-god of Kislev Ursun's skull for his master's throne. In ages past, Skarbrand was Khorne's greatest Bloodthirster until, in his hubris, he attempted to overthrow Khorne, and struck a blow against his god. As punishment, Khorne choked out all aspects of Skarbrand's personality except his rage and threw him from the brass citadel. The fall ruined Skarbrand's wings, making him the only Bloodthirster who can't fly. He has wandered ever since, trying to win back the favor of the god he betrayed.

Total War: Warhammer III released this year to much anticipation as the latest in a 15-game long Total War franchise. These turn-based strategy and real-time tactics computer games have been delighting gamers for over two decades and each entry in the series has at least one reason to give it a try.
