Could Mark Strong Be Playing A Batman Villain In The Penguin?

There Are A Couple Potential Villains He'd Be Perfect For

While time will tell whether Strong is truly ing The Batman universe, it begs the question of who he may be playing if he is indeed part of the series. Given Strong's caliber as an actor, it wouldn't be shocking if the former DCEU star was tapped for a new DC Comics role within Reeves' franchise. Interestingly enough, there is one major Batman foe that fans have been suggesting Strong could play for a couple of years now.

Through numerous art pieces, Strong has been a popular choice for Victor Fries, a.k.a. Mr. Freeze, who has only been depicted once on the big screen in 1997's Batman & Robin with Arnold Schwarzenegger. Given that Mr. Freeze is one of the easier villains to fit into Reeves' fairly grounded universe, The Penguin could be a launching pad for Victor before he serves a bigger role in future movies. Whether that ends up being in The Batman - Part II or even The Batman - Part III, The Penguin can explore Victor's origin story before he becomes Mr. Freeze.

The Penguin marks Strong's third DC property after starring in the DCEU's Shazam! movies, and 2011's Green Lantern movie with Ryan Reynolds.

Another iconic Batman villain that Strong would be an amazing fit for is Dr. Hugo Strange, who is one of the most psychologically dangerous enemies in Bruce Wayne's rogues' gallery. Given the fallout at the end of The Batman, seeing new villains starting to rise in Gotham City, especially in a series like The Penguin, would only allow Reeves to continue his world-building. Hopefully, Warner Bros. TV and Max will clarify sooner rather than later if Strong is set to appear in The Penguin and, if so, who he is actually playing in the series.
