There are some truly amazing Star Wars timeline. However, some of his best moments can be found on the page, rather than on the screen.

While Obi-Wan Kenobi isn't a huge focus in more recent comics, there have been some notable moments in the established canon where he got some truly impressive moments to shine. Likewise, Kenobi also achieved some truly epic feats in non-canon comics that are now known as Legends. To that end, here are 10 of the best Obi-Wan Kenobi moments of all time that fans only got in the comics (canon and Legends).

10 The Battle of Jabiim During The Clone Wars

(Legends)

In Star Wars Legends, the Dark Horse's Republic series provided a wealth of adventures set during the Clone Wars as the Jedi Order found themselves leading the Republic's new clone forces into battle against Count Dooku and the droids armies of the Separatist Alliance. This included several campaigns featuring Obi-Wan Kenobi, such as the truly epic Battle of Jabiim that took place early on during the Clone Wars timeline. With both the Republic and Separatists getting involved in the mining world's civil war, Obi-Wan Kenobi was positioned as a key leader as the Republic used the conflict to field test their early model AT-ATs.

The Battle of Jabiim was one of the longest campaigns in Legends' version of the Clone Wars timeline, one that also saw Anakin Skywalker tapping into his inner darkness after it was believed that Kenobi had died during the fighting (when in fact he'd been kidnapped by Asajj Ventress and taken off-world). While the Battle of Jabiim remains non-canon, the world itself played a role in the canonical Obi-Wan Kenobi series as a key refuge for the secret network known as the Hidden Path.

9 Dueling Asajj Ventress (And A Rancor)

(Legends)

Obi-Wan Deuls Ventress Riding Rancor

Another impressive Obi-Wan battle from Dark Horse's Republic was his duel with Asajj Ventress who'd managed to exert her will in the Force over a fearsome rancor. Using the beast as her very own mount, Dooku's Sith assassin dueled with Obi-Wan on top of the creature before Kenobi put the corrupted rancor out of its misery with his lightsaber. While Ventress managed to escape, Obi-Wan certainly emerged the clear victor in their latest duel (which wouldn't be their last).

It's also notable that this encounter occurred just before Obi-Wan vouched for Quinlan Vos before the Jedi Council, arguing for his return to the Jedi Order despite his dark deeds working as a double agent for Count Dooku (a role that was adapted and integrated into the canon Clone Wars timeline). However, Ventress tracked Obi-Wan to Coruscant, and ended up dueling Anakin when she couldn't get close enough to Kenobi. To that end, Ventress and Anakin's Coruscant duel was the cause for Skywalker's scar (which has yet to receive a canon explanation).

8 Obi-Wan's Crusade To Save Ventress

(Legends)

Obi-Wan Tries Saving Ventress in Legends

As Legends' version of the Clone Wars progressed, Obi-Wan became obsessed with finding Ventress, even after Anakin itted that he'd killed her during their Coruscant duel. However, Kenobi refuses to believe in her demise after hearing rumors of her activity, eventually discovering that Dooku had had her recovered and healed. That said, the Republic's battle with the Separatists on Boz Pity saw Ventress being betrayed by Dooku and left for dead.

Refusing to give up on Ventress after learning about her past where she was never given a choice beyond the dark side, Kenobi desperately wanted to give Asajj a chance at redemption, even as she tried to kill him. Knowing that Ventress is who Anakin could have been had things gone differently in The Phantom Menace, Kenobi's desire to save Ventress was quite irable. While Kenobi and Ventress do have a dynamic rivalry in the canon Clone Wars, it never extended this far (most of Ventress' redemptive elements in the canon mostly come from her romance with Quinlan Vos).

7 Obi-Wan's Duel With A'Sharad Hett

(Legends)

Obi-Wan vs A'Sharad Hett

The son of a famous Jedi Knight-turned-Tusken warlord, Legends' A'Sharad Hett was a Tatooine Tusken Raider himself before he was chosen to become the Jedi apprentice to Master Ki-Adi-Mundi. Becoming a Jedi Master during the Clone Wars, Hett survived the Jedi Purge of Order 66. Returning to Tatooine, Hett re-embraced the Tusken way of life and became the leader of several clans. Eventually, Hett came face to face with his former Jedi ally Obi-Wan Kenobi who was protecting a moisture farm for some reason unknown to Hett.

By the end of their epic duel, Obi-Wan emerged the victor by cutting off Hett's arm and removing part of his head coverings. This act turned Hett into an outcast in the eyes of his fellow Tusken Raiders. Leaving Tatooine, Hett becomes a bounty hunter before being promised power in the dark side by the spirit of a fallen Sith lord.

Learning secrets of the dark side in a Korriban tomb, Hett emerges as Darth Krayt. However, decades had ed with the Galactic Civil War having ended and those he'd sought revenge on having died (Palpatine and Vader). As such, Kenobi sparing Hett inadvertently resulted in the creation of a new Sith Lord that had to be faced by the next generation of Jedi during the Legends' original New Republic timeline.

6 Obi-Wan's First Tatooine Duel With Darth Maul

(Legends)

In the canonical Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels series, Darth Maul is revealed to have survived his defeat at the hands of Kenobi in The Phantom Menace. Found crazed and insane by his brother Savage Oppress, Maul's mind and legs are eventually restored by the Nightsisters of Dathomir. While this resulted in several duels with Obi-Wan as Maul tried and failed to claim revenge, their final battle on Tatooine seen in Star Wars Rebels is derived from Legends' Star Wars Visionaries and a short story that first revealed Maul's return with long horns and cybernetic legs for the very first time.

5 Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon Investigate A World Of Pure Darkness

Marvel Reveals Obi-Wan's Darkest Mission With Qui-Gon (Literally) Featured

In Christopher Cantwell's canonical Obi-Wan series, Kenobi reflects on his past during his Tatooine exile. This includes a unique mission with Qui-Gon Jinn where they come across a planet completely devoid of light. Due to an inadvertent release of radiation into the atmosphere when thieves attacked a mining compound, all light sources were diminished across the entire planet.

This unique phenomenon even affected the Jedi duo's lightsabers. As such, Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon's investigation into the source was the perfect scenario for the young Jedi to truly trust in the Force, rather than his sense of sight. To that end, the adventure pairs very well with one of Obi-Wan's first lessons to Luke Skywalker in A New Hope: "Your eyes can deceive you, don't trust them".

4 Obi-Wan Nearly Leaves The Jedi Order For Anakin

(Canon)

Obi-Wan Speaks With Yoda About Leaving Jedi Order

Charles Soule and Marco Checchetto's Anakin & Obi-Wan miniseries takes place only a few years into Anakin's training as a Jedi. During this time, Anakin nearly decided to leave the Jedi Order behind, having felt as though his entire life had been decided for him at the age of 9. However, one last mission with his master changed his mind and resulted in his renewed commitment to the Jedi Order.

What the young Skywalker didn't know was that Obi-Wan was fully prepared to leave the Jedi Order with him had he decided to go through with it. Kenobi was dedicated to Anakin, and to the promise he made to Qui-Gon before his death that he would train Anakin. It's a remarkable reveal, one that would have resulted in an incredibly different Star Wars timeline had they both left together to start new lives.

3 Obi-Wan's Clone Wars Apocalypse Now Homage

(Canon)

Star Wars Is Giving Obi-Wan and Anakin Their Own Apocalypse Now Featured

Later in Cantwell's Obi-Wan, Kenobi and Anakin find themselves on a truly dark mission during the Clone Wars, one that intentionally resembles elements from Francis Ford Coppola's Apocalypse Now. Traveling upriver, Obi-Wan and Anakin seek out a Republic officer named Mekedrix who'd gone insane. Having killed several clone troopers, Mekedrix had holed himself up in an old dark side temple along with a select group of followers.

Ultimately, Mekedrix is found wielding a sword disturbingly made from the bones of a clone. Despite Mekedrix's "heart of darkness", Obi-Wan still tries to reason and redeem the commander whom he once served alongside. However, he was too far gone, and Anakin was forced to kill him before the commander could harm Kenobi (who'd been unarmed).

2 Obi-Wan Spares Darth Vader In Force Vision

(Canon)

Star Wars Darth Vader 2017 by Charles Soule Vader's Obi-Wan Vision

In 2017's Darth Vader series from Charles Soule and Giuseppe Camuncoli, the Dark Lord of the Sith is bleeding a kyber crystal for his first Sith lightsaber shortly after the events of Revenge of the Sith. This results in a powerful Force vision, one that shows Vader a potential path where he kills Palpatine before seeking out his old master. Removing his helmet and begging Kenobi for forgiveness, this Force vision saw Vader wanting Obi-Wan to kill him for all he'd done.

However, it's suggested that Obi-Wan would have spared Vader's life and forgiven his former apprentice. He hopefully would have helped him redeem his actions among the living as well. While the true Vader ultimately rejects this path and further embraces the dark side, it's remarkable to see what might have been and how Kenobi could have potentially brought Anakin back to the light years before Luke would as seen in Return of the Jedi.

1 Obi-Wan vs Black Krrsantan

(Canon)

During the Dark Times, Jabba the Hutt placed a water tax on the surrounding moisture farms near his palace on Tatooine. However, the gangster hired the Wookiee bounty hunter Black Krrsantan to find and capture the mysterious man who'd been disrupting the tax, particularly in the regions near the Jundland Wastes. Threatening Owen Lars and his family, it wasn't long before Obi-Wan arrived to battle Black Krrsantan and protect Owen (and by extension, Luke Skywalker).

The confrontation was also a rare moment in the Star Wars timeline where Obi-Wan used his lightsaber during his Tatooine exile to defeat and drive Black Krrsantan off Tatooine. Likewise, the scar Kenobi gave Krrsantan can be seen on the live-action Wookiee's face when he appears in The Book of Boba Fett. As such, it's a pretty cool detail that only comes from those who've read about Obi-Wan Kenobi's exploits in the comics.

The Padawan of Qui-Gon Jinn, Obi-Wan Kenobi became a Jedi Knight after his master's death. Obi-Wan trained Anakin Skywalker as a Jedi, with his own apprentice knighted after the Battle of Geonosis. The Jedi Master became a key player in the Jedi during the Clone Wars, and was heartbroken when Anakin turned to the dark side; Obi-Wan critically wounded Anakin before taking to the shadows, watching over the young Luke and Leia for years. He sacrificed himself for his two charges, becoming a Force Ghost and continuing to mentor them.
