older sister of Amy Slaton and Tammy Slaton, has spent years making sure that her sisters are living to their highest potential. Throughout their lives, Tammy, Amy, and their older siblings may have been a bit more separated than traditional siblings, but they’ve been working hard to keep their connection alive into adulthood. Amanda is the traditional middle child, trying to keep everyone together.

While Amanda has been moving through her own weight loss journey throughout her time on the show, she’s been keeping things to herself more often than sharing with her sisters in the spotlight. Amanda was more private early on in 1000-lb Sisters run because of her divorce from her ex-husband Jason Halterman. Even though she wanted to keep her split quiet for the sake of her kids, Amanda has moved further into the spotlight in recent years, and has been open about her life throughout 1000-lb Sisters season 6, which leaves me certain she needs the spotlight on the show.

Tammy & Amy’s Stories Have Reached A Natural Conclusion

They’re In A Better Place

Although Tammy and Amy’s stories will never technically be finished, the sisters who have led 1000-lb Sisters throughout its first six seasons have spent a lot more time in front of the camera than expected. Tammy, who began the series on the verge of a medical crisis because of her high weight, has been able to move through the show gracefully. Finding herself in the process of having a life-saving weight loss procedure, Tammy has been quick to make it clear that she’s happier than ever. While she’s had some difficult moments on the show, Tammy’s rough side has softened.

While Tammy has changed in mental and physical ways throughout the run of 1000-lb Sisters, Amy has also made a valiant effort to find herself in a new way, in moments through her growing family. When she began the series, Amy was on the verge of having weight loss surgery that would allow her to become pregnant safely. After having two sons with her ex-husband Michael Halterman, Amy chose to end her marriage, and though she’s been struggling with her mental health, has moved into a better place in her life. The series has seen her through some dark times.

Amanda’s Story Is Consistently Changing

Her New Romance & Weight Loss Are Fresh

While Amy and Tammy have been working hard on themselves throughout the run of 1000-lb Sisters, the cameras have been focusing on their wins, losses, and everything in between instead of the other Slaton siblings. Amanda, who’s in the middle of the family age-wise, has been living her own journey that’s sometimes captured on the show, but often pales in comparison to Amy and Tammy’s. While Amanda has been featured on the show for years, her life has been different from season to season in a way that’s made her harder to follow along with for viewers of 1000-lb Sisters.

While Amanda’s story belongs in the spotlight.

Amanda Should Take Over The Spotlight For Her Sisters

Amy & Tammy Can Move Into The Background

Although Amy and Tammy have been the focal point of 1000-lb Sisters throughout its time on the air, I think Amanda should be the next person to take the spotlight on the series.

While I don’t necessarily need Tammy and Amy to leave the show, I think Amanda’s story is what the show needs to succeed moving forward. While the younger sisters have found a place where they’re a bit more stable and prepared to stay still, Amanda has been doing everything she can to prove that she’s ready for excitement and a whole new energy.

Amanda being in the spotlight on 1000-lb Sisters season 7 is a major development for the series, even though she’s been a part of 1000-lb Sisters for years. While I think Tammy and Amy’s stories are still important and find themselves facing new challenges frequently, viewers would certainly be interested in seeing more from Amanda as she moves through the new phases of her life. 1000-lb Sisters will only benefit from having Amanda in the spotlight more often than the show currently does.
