When she made her television debut, Tammy weighed almost 680 pounds. Though she embarked on a weight-loss journey, she was failing miserably to lose weight. Despite the warnings of all of her doctors, Tammy kept putting on more weight, getting up to 715 pounds at her heaviest. The numbers on the scale did nothing to deter Tammy from her unhealthy lifestyle.

When a health scare landed Tammy in a medically induced coma, she finally realized that she had to lose weight. After treating her crippling food addiction, Tammy had bariatric surgery and the pounds melted away. Since losing weight, Tammy looks like an entirely different person, and her life has changed completely. While regaining her mobility and independence, she has lost all patience for mean internet haters and their vicious comments. Tammy Slaton Uses Humor To Get Her Point Across

Mockery Is The Best Strategy

Tammy had an online presence long before appearing on 1000-lb Sisters. Tammy and her sister, Amy Slaton, were posting on YouTube back in 2018. Years of experience on social media must have taught Tammy that the best way to deal with online critics is to laugh at them. In December 2023, Tammy posted a tongue-in-cheek TikTok message to her haters. The post simply features an animated graphic and reads, "Happy People Ain't Hatin'. And Hatin' People Ain't Happy!!"

Like Tammy, Amy has also lost a great deal of weight over the years, but she didn't struggle as much as her sister. Amy weighed 400 pounds when the show premiered. Amy's dream was to someday be a mother, but she knew that was too big for a healthy pregnancy. After bariatric surgery, Amy was able to lose 125 pounds. She and her husband, Michael Halterman, went on to have two sons, Glenn and Gage Halterman.

After four years of marriage, Amy and Michael divorced in 2023.

Tammy Slaton Isn't Afraid Of Her Critics

Don't Come For The Queen

Haters on social media have criticized Tammy for everything from her looks to her personality. She gets a lot of cruel comments about the fact that she has lots of loose skin due to her incredible weight loss. The 1000-lb Sisters star has often addressed the matter and has said that she sees the loose skin as proof of her victory over obesity. In December 2023, Tammy posted a TikTok response to a particularly obscene comment comparing her loose skin to male genitalia.

The troll asked Tammy when she would be getting rid of her testicles, to which Tammy responded that she'd do so by blocking the hater.

We should be lifting up people," the 1000-lb Sisters star told her critic, adding, "It doesn’t matter if I’m missing teeth.” Tammy has explained that she's missing teeth because of a childhood accident. She tripped and fell, knocking her front teeth out. Her family simply couldn't afford to get her teeth fixed. Though the internet can be very cruel, many of the comments on Tammy's post were ive of her.

One TikTok wrote, "No matter what you look like people will always find something to pick at so don't let those miserable people ruin your day."

She Still Has A Sweet Tooth

Like any good social media presence, the 1000-lb Sisters star has always enjoyed taunting her trolls. In March 2023, Tammy trolled her critics by opening and tasting a plethora of freeze-dried candy. Tammy has made similar videos in which she tastes junk food, and people go crazy in the comment section. The criticism is that Tammy should eat candy after bariatric surgery.

In the post, which has 23.7k likes, Tammy talks about the fact that she knows watching her eat candy makes people mad, but she goes ahead and does it anyway.

Tammy also talks about her life in the clip. She explains that she had kept her marriage a secret because production limits what she can discuss regarding her personal life. The show wants those details to be revealed on air, for entertainment value. Tammy met and married Caleb Willingham in 2022. Sadly, 41-year-old Caleb died in 2023, only six months after the couple tied the knot, due to complications caused by his obesity.

During the finale of 1000-lb Sisters season 5, Tammy found herself widowed and on her own again.

Haters Should Back Off

Tammy Is Inspirational

Losing as much weight as Tammy has lost isn't easy, even with bariatric surgery. The 1000-lb Sisters star had a hard time getting started on her weight-loss journey, but once she did, she stayed focused on her goals. Tammy's life-changing weight-loss should serve as an inspiration. Many people in the world struggle with their weight, and obesity rates are surging everywhere. Tammy and the other Slatons should be applauded for their extraordinary weight-loss milestones.
