1000-lb Sisters star Tammy Slaton has lost a significant amount of weight over the years, but an old photo of the reality television star really illustrates how far she's come. When the beloved unscripted show premiered in 2020, Tammy weighed over 600 pounds, and would go on to weigh 725 pounds at her heaviest. She had always struggled with her weight, and appeared uninterested in making the changes necessary to lose weight.

After a health scare landed Tammy in a week-long medically-induced coma, she decided to finally take her weight loss seriously. With her life on the line, she went to see bariatric surgeon Dr. Eric Smith. In July 2022, Tammy received a duodenal switch procedure. According to the Cleveland Clinic, a duodenal switch narrows the stomach and small intestine in a way that restricts how much food the stomach can hold. After surgery, a now 38-year-old Tammy lost an incredible 500 pounds.

Tammy's sister and 1000-lb Sisters' Amanda Halterman, recently shared an old throwback photo of Tammy that really illustrates how far the 1000-lb Sisters season 6 star has come over the years. In Amanda's Instagram photo, which was taken in 2017, Tammy was laid up in a hospital bed with Amanda visiting her sick sister. "Flashback to Feb 2017," reads Amanda's caption. "Tammy was in the hospital with a pulmonary embolism. Thankful God saw fit to let her stay and for me to be on this journey together."

While all the Slaton siblings struggled with weight, Tammy was always the heaviest of all her siblings. After addressing her food addiction and having bariatric surgery, Tammy lost an incredible 500 pounds. The 1000-lb Sisters star went from 725 to 225 pounds, and she looks nothing like the woman in that hospital bed in 2017. Tammy wants skin removal surgery to address all her loose excess skin, but her doctor wants her to lose more weight first.
