While Superman has one of the most amazing arrays of powers in the DC Universe, he’s not the only Kryptonian running around. There are plenty of other people who share the same powers as the ‘Last Son of Krypton’. In fact, some of them even possess abilities that the premier DC hero doesn’t have.
Some of these powers come about as a result of scientific experimentation or are simply a gift from the gods. Regardless, despite the immense strength that he has, Clark Kent doesn’t have the special powers that the following 11 heroes and villains do.
11 Preus' Black Light Manipulation
Preus was one of Superman’s most despicable villains. Not only did he harbor an immense hatred of non-Kryptonians, but he also had the ability to emit a powerful black light energy from his hands. His heat vision was also black and burnt with much more intense heat. Preus could also channel this energy into his fists and deliver a devastating punch that could seriously hurt Superman. It’s unknown what gave Presus his unique powers, but he sure put them to devastating use.
10 H’El’s Time Power
H’el is a powerful Kryptonian clone, and he possesses the full array of powers that any other Kryptonian does. But he also gained the power to manipulate time after he was exposed to the residual energy of a device that drained the Sun of its energy. After gaining this power, H’el began traveling back in time over and over, trying to prevent Krypton from ever being destroyed, ironically putting the rest of the universe at risk due to the temporal aberrations H’el was making.
9 Bizarro’s ‘Reverse’ Powers
Speaking of clones, Bizarro is an imperfect clone of Superman. As a result, everything about him is backward. His speech patterns, his morals, and even his powers. While he can fly and is just as strong as Clark, Bizarro has the opposite of Superman’s heat vision and freeze breath. Instead, he’s got freeze vision and flame breath. Bizarro’s ‘cousin’ Bizarro-Girl took things one step further and revealed she had the opposite of X-Ray vision and could turn people into statues.
8 Super-Man’s Magic Immunity
Kenan Kong, the Super-Man of China, was born a human. But Kenan’s physiology changed in an experiment that imbued him with all the powers of a Kryptonian (though it took him some time to master each power). But once Super-Man gained control of his abilities he found that he had one power his hero did not: an immunity to magic. While the Man of Steel couldn’t save China from a demon army, Kenan’s ability to stand up to magic helped him save the day.
7 Jon Kent’s Electric Punch
Thanks to the events of Lazarus Planet, Superman Jon Kent’s powers have changed considerably. He now has electricity powers similar to his father during his ‘Superman Blue’ days. However, in a fight against Ultraman, Jon did something Superman never used his powers for. The junior Superman channeled all his electric powers into a punch that knocks the villain down to the ground, with Ultraman even conceding that it was the hardest punch he’s ever felt in his life.
6 Flamebird’s Fire Mastery
During the “New Krypton” saga, DC’s Kryptonian population increased by several hundred thousand. But only a few of those new Kryptonians had powers unlike Clark, such as Thara Ak-Var, the reincarnation of the Kryptonian god Flamebird. Once she accessed the divine power within her, Thara transformed into a being composed of pure fire and could manipulate and generate powerful flames. Flamebird was so powerful she was able to reignite the sun after it was turned red by Lex Luthor.
5 Nightwing’s Shadow Control
Krypton’s other prominent mythological figure might be even more powerful than Flamebird. Superman’s adopted son, Chris Kent, was the reincarnation of Nightwing, the shadowy deity of Kryptonian lore. After accessing his supernatural powers, Chris became able to manipulate the shadows in the darkness, enveloping his enemies and trapping them in cold, barren realms. Chris’ connection to shadows originates from his immunity to the Phantom Zone, an ability he gained by being born in the ethereal prison.
4 Milkman Man's Reality-Altering Power
Milkman Man is a curious piece of DC’s history. He’s not a natural Kryptonian in the same way that Clark or his family is. But he was designed to be an exact copy of Clark by the extradimensional entity known as Retconn. In addition to having all the powers of a Kryptonian, Milkman Man has the ability to change reality itself. People’s personalities and their entire worlds can all be changed by Milkman Man to whatever his handlers desire.
3 Power Girl’s Astral Punch
Power Girl got a serious upgrade during Lazarus Planet when she developed telepathy after being exposed to Lazarus Resin. But the recent Power Girl Special #1 saw her trade those powers for a more interesting one. To stop the villainous Johnny Sorrow, PG severed her psychic connection, using the energy to deliver an astral punch to Sorrow. Despite severing her connection, she still possesses the new ability, potentially opening up a whole new world for Power Girl.
2 Superboy’s Tactile Telekinesis
If there’s one thing that Conner Kent is known for, it’s his tactile telekinesis. Superboy is a half-clone of Superman, and as such, didn’t possess the full range of abilities Clark did. However, he was able to become a hero thanks to his tactile TK. The ability allows Conner to easily manipulate objects with telekinesis via touch. Once Superboy’s Kryptonian powers actually kicked in, his telekinetic abilities grew in strength, to the point where Conner was able to take down Parasite with nothing more than a field of grain.
