The official trailer for 1923 season 2 will close out the show, which also functions as a sequel to 1883.

With just over a month to go before its premiere, Paramount+ has released the full-length trailer for 1923 season 2 after several shorter teasers set up the conflicts ahead. Clocking in at nearly two minutes, the trailer hypes the continuation of the show's biggest plots, including Donald Whitfield's (Timothy Dalton) plans to take over the Dutton land and Spencer's (Brandon Sklenar) fraught journey home. What This Trailer Means For 1923 Season 2

The Season Has Two Major Points Of Focus

There are two overarching stories prominently featured in the 1923 trailer: Spencer's journey home and Whitfield's encroaching threat. In season 1, Cara reached out to Spencer and begged him to come back to Montana, setting him on a treacherous path that has yet to be resolved. As Spencer is coming all the way from Africa, it was always bound to be a difficult trip, but his return is further complicated by his relationship with Alexandra (Julia Schlaepfer). Spencer and Alex got married in season 1, but were separated by her former fiancé in the finale.

The season 2 trailer doesn't show their reunion, but it does confirm they have many more obstacles ahead of them. For one thing, Alex is spotted being grabbed from behind by a mysterious man, while Spencer is aware he's running out of time to get home. In Montana, the Duttons are facing Whitfield's increasing presence. Whitfield intends to turn the area into "a playground for the elite." Based on the footage, it is clear the battle for the ranch will force the main 1923 characters into difficult positions; at one point, Cara is shown griping about the things she's done for it.

1923 Can Still Offer Some Big Twists

Coming from someone who hasn't waded much into the Yellowstone world, the new 1923 season 2 trailer is pretty compelling. By centering on the fight for the Dutton ranch, the show calls to mind Yellowstone itself, which often focused on the main characters' efforts to keep hold over their land. At the same time, 1923 offers fresh intrigue by adding the overseas adventures of Spencer and Alex. Though it can be assumed the Duttons will end up victorious simply based on Yellowstone's existence, there are other plot points that can offer up some twists, such as Spencer's perilous adventure home.

1923 season 2 premieres on Paramount+ on February 23.
