Many fans are sick and tired of seeing Elizabeth Potthast and her husband Andrei Castravet on the 90 Day Fiancé franchise, and they don’t hesitate to make that opinion known. But despite the hate that gets thrown her way, Libby has a surefire method for coping with criticism that is both simple and genius. Though Libby may not be able to stop mean messages from flooding her DMs, she’s not going to let them bring her down.
Libby and Andrei have gotten on fans' nerves since they first appeared on 90 Day Fiancé season 5, but on this season of Andrei and Libby for being lazy and irresponsible, and they can’t stand the screaming matches the couple gets into with the rest of the Potthast family.
It’s no surprise many fans have expressed their dislike for the couple online and have even messaged the stars directly. Still, despite the constant criticism they receive, Libby and Andrei continue to appear on 90 Day Fiancé shows. Recently, Libby had some time to kill and did an Instagram Q&A. She answered a variety of questions, but when one fan inquired about how she handles backlash, Libby had a simple answer. “How do you get through the day ignoring the criticism that comes via social media?,” the fan asked. Libby responded, “Uh that’s easy. Just don’t read it.”
In the past, Libby has said she isn’t bothered by criticism, which makes sense given that she doesn’t read any of it. Just about all of the 90 Day Fiancé cast have faced some level of judgment and nasty messages, though Libby is probably one of the most highly criticized. Her solution is perfect in its simplicity—you can’t get depressed about a message or comment you didn’t read.
Thick skin is an essential trait for 90 Day Fiancé stars, and Libby’s strategy for maintaining her sanity is a prudent one. Fans will say what they want to say, and some of it can get pretty rough. Regardless of whether Libby deserves the criticism or not, it’s still hard to manage the sheer volume of hate she receives. However, if Libby keeps with her strategy of ignoring the vitriol, she’ll be just fine.
