There have been plenty of catfish stories on 90 Day Fiancé where the international partners were either completely made up or trying to avoid their American suitors. Seasoned fans are pretty much sure that Mahogany is a catfish, given the many ways in which she tried to trick 52-year-old Ben. The father of four, who’s experienced in dating women much younger than him, is head over heels in love with Mahogany, with whom he’s been chatting for three months. His Peruvian girlfriend has already taken $1,000 as a loan from him, but she’s also won his heart by talking about faith and a future together. But while Ben wants to give Mahogany a ring, she’s not even ready to give him her location tag.
90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days episode 8 showed an emotional Ben feeling hurt and stressed when Mahogany didn’t meet him at the airport. Of course, he received a message from Mahogany asking him not to come as her dad wasn’t sure of his motives, which he ignored. According to a behind-the-scenes tidbit from 90 Day Fiancé on Twitter, prior to leaving for Peru, Ben sent Mahogany some flowers. But according to the delivery service, Mahogany didn't give Ben her real address. In fact, she fooled the Michigan man by giving him the address of a “nearby neighbor.” And, yes, the neighbor accepted the flowers apparently on Mahogany’s behalf.
In the replies to this shocking tweet, fans gave free-flowing advice to Ben, who’s reminding them a lot of David Murphey from 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days season 4. Some were reminded of the situation when David had gone knocking on some random door in Ukraine thinking it would lead him to Lana. TLC viewer @Itssandrav posted, “Sometimes it's interesting to see how gullible people choose to be. Yolanda">@Kichusie, who suggested that next time Ben should “should attempt sending her money and she will freely give her real credentials + Address.” The fan also asked if Mahogany is even her real name. “If not he should go to that same neighbor who received the flowers and ask for her,” they added.
Ben will actually be going to San Bartolo in the next episode, according to previews. “I am holding out hope that tonight’s the night,” he states as he hops into a taxi to go to Mahogany’s house, where she supposedly stays with her parents. The clip also shows Ben sitting at a restaurant waiting to meet Mahogany and saying how he’s overwhelmed with anticipation. If Ben goes to Mahogany’s neighbor and ends up in a new maze altogether, it might make good fodder for his 90 Day Fiancé plot. But then again, Mahogany might have had a reason to not share her home address with Ben if she’s actually a scammer sitting in Nigeria.
