The 90s gave us so many amazing TV shows. Although these shows have since ended, they're still fun to go back and watch and it can be a lot of fun to think about what a modern version of these shows would be like. Shows like Gossip Girl reboot give us a look at a sequel or reboot to some of our favorite shows, but there are still quite a few of them that haven't gotten the reboot that they deserve.

And while there are a lot of shows from the 90s that we'd love to see a modern version of, there are also quite a few shows that are perfect as they are and really don't need a modern remake. Whether that's because they ended fairly recently compared to other series, had a really long run already and exhausted most of the plots the writers could use, or some other reason, these shows should simply be left alone.

Reboot: The Wonder Years (1988 - 1993)

The Wonder Years is a show that aired from 1988 through 1993. Despite the fact that this show aired in the 80s and 90s, it was actually set back in the late 60s through the early 70s and followed the life of a young Kevin Arnold. Kevin's adult version narrates the series and it's a fun look at the life of a teenager in this time.

Because this version was set in the past, a rebooted version that follows Kevin as an adult would likely be set during the 90s once he's settled down and has a life and family of his own. Shows that take place in this era are popular right now and are definitely a lot of fun to watch.

No Need: ER (1994 - 2009)

ER is a medical drama that aired from 1994 through 2009 for a total of 15 seasons. This show's long run made it not only a 90s show, but also a 2000s one and has a massive cast, including stars like George Clooney, Mekhi Phifer, and Laura Innes.

Even though this medical drama is still a popular one, there are a few reasons that it really doesn't need a reboot. This show only ended in 2009, meaning that it hasn't been off the air for long. Plus, medical dramas aren't that unique of a premise. With shows like Grey's Anatomy already so popular, so this show is one that can be left to rest.

Reboot: Clarissa Explains It All (1991 - 1994)

Clarissa Explains It All

Clarissa Explains It All aired on Nickelodeon from 1991 through 1994. The series stars Melissa Joan Hart as the title character, Clarissa Darling. She's a teenage girl who loves computers, has a wild imagination, and is always getting into trouble with her best friend, Sam. A reboot of the series was in production in 2018, but it was unfortunately put on indefinite hold sometime later.

While it's possible that Nickelodeon could team back up with the actress to continue working on a modern version of the series, it doesn't seem to be in the cards at the moment. Still, a modern version of Melissa as a mom that possibly features her brother, Ferguson, would be perfect for people nostalgic for the 90s.

No Need: Seinfeld (1989 - 1998)

Seinfeld aired from 1989 through 1998 and is definitely one of the most popular sitcoms from the 90s. This "show about nothing" showed the day-to-day life of a fictionalized version of comedian Jerry Seinfeld and his friends in New York City.

The series had a massive following and is still fun to watch today, but that doesn't necessarily mean that it needs to make a comeback. While scenarios involving Jerry and his friends in the modern day with less 90s-specific problems and jokes are fun to imagine, the show had a good run and there are other sitcoms that have taken its place now.

Reboot: Sister, Sister (1994 - 1999)

Sister, Sister is a series that stars Tia and Tamera Mowry and aired from 1994 through 1999. The series follows a pair of twins who were separated at birth when they were adopted by two different people, only to be reunited and move back in together as teenagers.

Although there was news of a possible reboot, the stars of the show have since revealed that there were problems with production and it was cancelled. A modern version Tia and Tamera as adults in their own unique living situation like in the original series would be a fun throwback to the 90s. Even though one reboot was already shelved, we'd still love to see them give it another shot.

No Need: Ally McBeal (1997 - 2002)

Ally McBeal

When it premiered in 1997, Ally McBeal was a super popular show. This legal comedy-drama follows a young attorney who is struggling with being a high-powered woman in her workplace and the show gives us a glimpse into her real inner thoughts through voiceovers and fantasy scenes.

While this show was a lot of fun to watch when it was airing, it's hard to deny that the series kind of ran its course before it ended in 2002. A show with a similar setup might be interesting in the modern-day, but there's no real need to bring Ally back to get that.

Reboot: Celebrity Deathmatch (1998 - 2007)

A scene showing a wretling match between celebrities in Celebrity Death Match

Celebrity Deathmatch is an animated series that aired from 1998 through 2007. The show was an MTV original that featured claymation versions of various celebrities battling to the death in a wrestling ring. Despite being totally made of clay, the series was pretty brutal sometimes, but that added to the fun of watching it.

It was announced 2018 that Ice Cube would be hosting a reboot of the series that would air in 2019, but since there was never any further information about it, it's safe to assume that it was cancelled. Still, a reboot of this show with modern celebrities would be a ton of fun to watch.

No Need: The Golden Girls (1985 - 1992)

The Golden Girls aired from 1985 through 1992, making it mostly an 80s show, but still one that snuck into the early parts of the 90s. This show followed a group of older women who all lived together in a house in Florida and the events of their lives and relationships with people outside of their house.

Even though the series aired in the 80s and 90s, it's still a funny show to go back and watch older episodes of. Despite being a classic sitcom, this is one that does not need a reboot. There are several reasons to leave it alone, but the big one is the fact that of the original cast, Betty White is sadly the only one still with us. The show wouldn't be the same without her friends.

Reboot: 3rd Rock From The Sun (1996 - 2001)

3rd Rock from the Sun

3rd Rock from the Sun is a sitcom that aired from 1996 through 2001. The series follows a group of aliens who crash-landed on Earth and are now trying to assimilate to life as humans in the bodies they've found themselves trapped in. The series stars a young Joseph Gordon-Levitt and its unique plot makes it a lot of fun to watch.

This show is definitely one that would be a ton of fun to see a reboot of. Even if it only has the original cast in cameos and focuses on a new group of aliens in new bodies, the idea of these aliens trying to blend in with human life could make for a ton of fun and interesting scenarios in a modern sitcom.

No Need: Freaks And Geeks (1999 - 2000)

Freaks and Geeks is a show set in the early 1980s that aired for only a single season from 1999 through 2000. The show stars a young James Franco, Seth Rogen, and Jason Segel and is a show that many people say was cancelled way too soon.

Although it's disappointing that this series was cancelled so quickly, that doesn't mean it really needs a reboot. Only getting one season means we didn't get to know these characters that well and having a modern-day version of the show with them all grown up would just not be that great.
