Now, Paramount Pictures has released a new trailer for the A Quiet Place: Day One. Check it out below:
The new trailer reveals a great deal more about the characters and storylines at the center of the prequel movie. However, one of the most important developments is the reveal that the bridges out of Manhattan are bombed by the military, trapping thousands of New York residents on the island in what seems to be an attempt to keep the alien monsters that hunt via sound from spreading throughout the country.
Everything New Revealed In The Quiet Place: Day One Trailer
There Are Huge Revelations About Lupita Nyong'o's Quiet Place Character And More
This new footage offers considerably more insight into the goings-on of the movie than the original A Quiet Place: Day One trailer. For instance, it reveals two important things about Nyong'o's character Sam. The first is that she can speak, as she is shown delivering various lines of dialogue throughout the new trailer. The first trailer originally made it seem like a possibility that she had a speech impairment, following up on the original movies' exploration of how a deaf character navigates the franchise's post-apocalyptic world. The second reveal is that her cat survives the initial onslaught of monsters.
The new trailer also reveals that, while Sam encounters various A Quiet Place: Day One characters throughout her attempt to escape the island of Manhattan, she may spend much more time with Quinn's Eric than originally implied. They are seen strategizing together in various different scenes throughout the movie, whereas her interactions with Hounsou's returning character seem limited to the same scene that they shared in the original trailer. The footage also reveals that their escape plan may involve using the city's sewer tunnels.
By the time of A Quiet Place Part II, Djimon Hounsou's Henri has become the leader of an island community that is isolated from the monsters.
However, the most important reveal about A Quiet Place: Day One is the govenment's response to the alien invasion. The fact that the military has isolated Manhattan would seem to imply that there are no monsters in the rest of the country at first. They have clearly spread to upstate New York at the time of the original movies, which take place more than 100 days later, but this could imply that, even in the main timeline, the monsters may not be as widespread as they originally seemed, especially considering the fact that they are canonically not very good swimmers.
