Sorry, Quinta Brunson's mockumentary sitcom, which follows the lives of a group of teachers at Willard R. Abbott Elementary School in Philadelphia, has been a hit (with critics and audiences alike) since its premiere in December 2021. Consequently, it's understandable why there is such a demand for more Abbott Elementary episodes, making the lack of one on November 27 frustrating. Thankfully, the next Abbott Elementary episodes are just around the corner.

As of the writing of this article, ABC has yet to renew Abbott Elementary for a fifth season (although, it's a very likely possibility).

So far, Abbott Elementary season 4 has been quite memorable, especially because it's the first one where Janine and Gregory are an actual couple. Viewers have been waiting a long time for them to get together, which happened when Janine and Gregory kissed at the end of Abbott Elementary season 3. Elsewhere in season 4, the teachers have been dealing with the construction of a golf course nearby, Melissa has a new pet, Gregory almost got into a fight with one of his student's fathers, and more. Abbott Elementary Season 4 Is On A Short Hiatus

As mentioned above, ABC will not debut the next episode of Abbott Elementary season 4 tonight, November 27. Episode 6, "The Deli," premiered two weeks ago, on November 13, and since then, the mockumentary sitcom has been on a bit of a hiatus. Network TV shows often take breaks, especially around the holidays, so that production can catch up with the release schedule. Plus, many TV series take the week of Thanksgiving (Thursday, November 28) off, and Abbott Elementary season 4 is seemingly doing the same.

Instead of a new episode of Abbott Elementary, ABC is airing The Untold Story of Mary Poppins: A Special Edition of 20/20 on Wednesday, November 27, at 9 pm ET. The two-hour special will reveal "surprising insights and explores [Mary Poppins'] impact on pop culture and storytelling." The Untold Story of Mary Poppins: A Special Edition of 20/20 isn't exactly the perfect replacement for Abbott Elementary, but fans won't have to wait long for new episodes of season 4.

Abbott Elementary season 4, episode 7, "Winter Show," airs one week after November 27 — on Wednesday, December 4, at 8 pm ET on ABC. So, fans only have to wait seven days for more of Quinta Brunson's mockumentary sitcom. The other good news is that Abbott Elementary season 4, episode 8, "Winter Break," will premiere directly following episode 7.

Viewers will get twice the amount of Abbott Elementary season 4 in one night. Episode 7, "Winter Show," airs at 8 pm ET on Wednesday, December 4, while episode 8, "Winter Break," drops at 8:30 pm ET. However, the bad news is that the two episodes serve as Abbott Elementary season 4's fall finale, meaning the show is taking a break for the holidays. The comedy series will return with season 4, episode 9, one month later, on January 8, 2025.

Episode 7 Is The First Part Of Abbott Elementary Season 4's 2-Part Fall Finale

As the titles of episodes 7 and 8 ("Winter Show" and "Winter Break") suggest, the two-part Abbott Elementary season 4 fall finale will be holiday-themed. Per episode 7's synopsis, Barbara will take charge of the school's first-ever holiday show, while Jacob's brother visits. Meanwhile, in episode 8, Janine and Gregory spend their first Christmas together as a couple, and Melissa frets over hosting the Schemmenti family's Christmas Eve dinner.

Talia Shire (of The Godfather and Rocky fame) guest stars as Melissa's mom in episode 8 [of Abbott Elementary season 4].

According to the Abbott Elementary season 4 cast as Jacob's brother, and Richard Brooks will return as Gerald. So, the final episodes of Abbott Elementary in 2024 are seemingly going all out to end the year with a bang.
