Warning: This article contains SPOILERS for Abbott Elementary season 4, episode 22, “Please Touch Museum.”
Even though one notable new character was missing from Ava’s rally in the preceding episode, Abbott Elementary’s entire cast of characters is hilarious, but the show doesn’t have enough screen time to let everyone shine in every episode. Much like The Office, Parks and Recreation, and Superstore before it, Abbott Elementary must leave some of its large ensemble cast behind while focusing on others.
Usually, this understandable approach doesn’t cause any major plot problems. However, alarm bells inevitably started ringing when O’Shon was absent from Ava’s triumphant eponymous rally in Abbott Elementary season 4, episode 21, “Rally.” After all, the rally saw almost everyone from the show attend to show their for Ava. The teachers and the students stood up for Ava against the school district, but so did the PTA, local business owners, Ava’s former sorority sister and nemesis Crystal, and even her estranged father Frank.
Abbott Elementary Season 4, Episode 22 Redeems O'Shon After Missing Ava's Rally
O’Shon Made Up For His Absence At Ava’s Rally By Buying Her Jewelry
Even Abbott Elementary’s big villains were redeemed when the same golf course developers whose bribes got Ava fired ed in the fight to get her job back. Within this context, it was bizarre that Ava’s likable love interest, O’Shon, was absent from the event. Fortunately, anyone worrying about a break-up can calm down. Season 4, episode 22, “Please Touch Museum,” began with O’Shon making up for missing the rally by surprising Ava with some expensive earrings.
It was surprising that Ava even initially pretended to like the earrings that O’Shon gave her, given how infamously blunt she can be at times.
Although his taste in jewelry proved terrible, O’Shon’s role in Abbott Elementary's season 4 finale proved he is here to stay in season 5. It was surprising that Ava even initially pretended to like the earrings that O’Shon gave her, given how infamously blunt she can be at times. However, it was their eventual sweet conversation about his well-meaning but ill-chosen gift that proved they were meant for each other. O’Shon wasn’t hurt when Ava itted that she didn’t like them, and the pair moved on and remained happy despite the hiccup.
O'Shon & Ava's Continued Romance Secures His Abbott Elementary Season 5 Fate
Abbott Elementary Season 4’s Finale Confirmed O’Shon and Ava Will Remain Together
After all of Ava’s wins in Abbott Elementary season 4, it would have been a shame for “Please Touch Museum” to end her year on a sad note with a breakup. Luckily, the sitcom did not take this route. Since O’Shon’s disastrous gift didn’t lead to a big fight between the couple, viewers can rest assured that O’Shon will likely remain a presence in season 5. This will be intriguing since Ava’s love life was something of a mystery before season 4.

Abbott Elementary Season 4 Episode 19’s Barbara & Jacob Pairing Cleverly Rewrites A Familiar Story
Although Abbott Elementary season 4 episode 19 pairs off Jacob and Barbara, this plot still allows the sitcom to revisit a classic Janine storyline.
Although Ava did boast about sleeping with some celebrities, it was easy to chalk this up to pure bluster given her penchant for twisting the truth. However, O’Shon and Ava had a lot of chemistry from the first time the unassuming IT guy started flirting with the principal, and their dynamic has only grown better since. As such, it will be fun to see season 5 work out what a love story looks like for Abbott Elementary’s unconventional but undeniably unique principal.
