ABC's 2023-24 TV Schedule Explained
ABC has been adjusting their TV schedule for the broadcast season, cancelling and renewing multiple shows in the last few days. Last week, ABC cancelled Big Sky following season 3, as well as single-season dramas The Company You Keep and Alaska Daily. These decisions were likely made because of underperforming viewership when compared to the other shows the network currently airs.
As for confirmed renewals, series already confirmed to return are Abbott Elementary, The Good Doctor, Grey's Anatomy, The Rookie, Station 19, and Will Trent. Interestingly, The Rookie season 6 has been confirmed, which may be a good sign for The Rookie: Feds season 2. However, ABC's decision to postpone renewal announcements for The Rookie: Feds and Home Economics puts the future of both shows in jeopardy.
Given the talent behind The Rookie: Feds, led by Niecy Nash-Betts as Simone Clark, the show likely stands a chance of being renewed for season 2 despite getting less viewership than The Rookie. As for Home Economics, the Topher Grace-led series' viewership has maintained equilibrium in seasons 2 and 3, making it a safe bet for renewal too. However, nothing will be set in stone until ABC announces the fate of both series at a later date.
