After expressing an opinion that got fans up in arms, about Absolute Batman's take on the classic foe and after being called out, the artist is issuing a challenge to the entire comic community.

Days after Nolan commented on the cover for Absolute Batman #9, which featured the Absolute Universe's Bane were just that, his opinion and nothing else.

However, in the same post, Nolan noted that if everyone who disagreed with him bought comics, the industry would be in better shape. On that note, Nolan challenged fans to buy Absolute Batman #9 and get the issue as many sales as his original post got views on X.

The Absolute Universe has only been around for a few short months, but it's already given fans a number of updated versions of classic DC villains. Brainiac, Circe, the Joker, Peacemaker, and Black Mask are just a few of the antagonists who have been introduced so far, with new ones arriving every month. Fans got their first look at this new world's Bane in DC Comics' June batch of solicitations, and he was bigger than most anticipated. While fans expressed interest in the oversized Bane, Graham Nolan's thoughts were less positive, calling the new design “a terrible abomination” on X.

Nolan is, of course, entitled to his opinion in not liking Bane’s design. And his post raises a good point. It's easy to disagree with someone, but far fewer people actually show up to financially new creative decisions. Granted, Absolute Batman has been selling like hotcakes, so it's not like it's in danger of cancelation or anything. But Nolan's point stands. Buying the comic featuring the new Bane is a much better way of making a point than simply sending a response on X or any other social media platform, since sales are better indications of what fans want.

Online discourse can be fun, but at the end of the day, what really matters is fans showing for the series they like. It does nothing to get mad at Nolan over his opinions about Bane. But fans who actually buy the issue of Absolute Batman make a point that they like the twists and turns the series is making to Batman lore. While it won't stop Nolan from expressing his opinion (as is his right), buying issue 9 will mean a lot more in the long run than clowning on Bane's co-creator on social media.
