The DC Universe's newest Flash is so fast, he's already dominating the sales charts before his new series hits the shelves. The Absolute Universe has been a major hit among fans and everyone is eagerly awaiting the next batch of books, one of which is already crushing it in sales.

Absolute Batman co-creator and Absolute Universe head honcho Scott Snyder spoke with the Comic Watchers podcast on the Absolute Universe's future, Snyder also discussed sales numbers that surprised even him.

Snyder revealed that Absolute Martian Manhunter had already sold over 120,000 copies before even being released. Snyder also discussed how Absolute Flash had even more pre-orders than Absolute Martian Manhunter, which Snyder described as "so gratifying".

Everyone Wants a Piece of DC's New Scarlet Speedster

Absolute Flash

As seen in last year's DC All In Special, the evil New God Darkseid is gone, his physical body destroyed during a battle with the recently re-formed Justice League. However, the energy contained within his form burst out into the universe and broke through the multiversal barrier, largely settling on Earth-Alpha. This world became the Absolute Universe, a world influenced by Darkseid's energy. Rather than hope, the driving forces of this universe are turmoil and strife. It still has heroes, like Superman or Batman, but their histories have been heavily altered, often putting DC's icons at greater disadvantages.

It's nice the next batch of titles is already selling so well, but it's no surprise. The Absolute books have been dominating the sales charts in the last several months (especially Absolute Wonder Woman and Absolute Batman). That success generates great word of mouth that pays off when new books come around. It also doesn't hurt that Flash is one of DC Comics' most popular characters, so a book featuring him in the Absolute line was almost certain to perform well early on. If these figures hold, Absolute Flash could end up performing as well as the best-selling Absolute titles.

Absolute Flash running-1

Of course, Absolute Flash's biggest disadvantage is coming after titles like Absolute Batman and Absolute Wonder Woman, which have been crushing it in sales. In fact, all the first three Absolute books had pre-orders of 150,000 or greater. While Snyder doesn't go into Absolute Flash's numbers, it's doing better than Absolute Martian Manhunter, which puts Wally's new book on par with Absolute Wonder Woman at least. And things could obviously change when the book is released, but if Absolute Flash matches the quality of its sibling books, it could do extremely well.

Ultimately, these books are all doing great right now and trying to compare their numbers is meaningless when the next batch hasn't even been released yet. What's important to note is that Absolute Flash is already performing better than expected as far as the minds behind the Absolute line are concerned. Hopefully, Absolute Flash's numbers will hold, and DC Comics gets another hit with a line that's already pumped out several great titles.

Absolute Flash #1 is available on March 19th from DC Comics.
