A free update for the new, replayable River Raid mode. This latest content dropped earlier this morning and is available to anyone who already owns the game. Besides the addition of the River Raid mode, players can expect new abilities, skills, and a long list of game fixes.
Title update 1.1.2 comes as no surprise as it was included in the roap Ubisoft shared detailing its plans for post-launch content before the game released in November. Reports that the patch would be coming soon began circulating last week and this seemed to be ed by the official roap. This update is the last of the Yule Season content, which also saw the introduction of the game’s limited-time Yuletide Festival celebration. However, the update which brings that River Raid mode marks the end of these wintry offerings. The next season will follow soon, and Ubisoft promises it will be better ed than even the DLC for Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.
Ubisoft has launched its River Raid mode and more with the title update 1.1.2 that went live today. The team beckons those eager to go a-Viking to explore unseen lands in England and discover new rewards. The mode will see the player set off with the Raven clan’s Jomsviking crew, which can be assembled in the base game, to raid various targets. Successful raids will net the player loot and the new content comes with opportunities to upgrade some skills and abilities. Eivor will be able to acquire several new tricks including abilities like Berserker Trap, which will disseminate hallucinatory powder when enemies get too close. For those interested in more physical abilities the update introduces Battle Cry and Shoulder Bash, both of which will come in handy during a tough battle.
Additionally, the game now includes several fresh skills for the player to enjoy. These range from Assassin Carry, which allows the player to immediately pick up a newly assassinated target, to the Long Ship Brace that triggers fellow crew to brace for arrows when the commander does. While the River Raid mode, skills, and abilities are arguably the most attention-grabbing parts of Ubisoft’s announcement, the lion’s share of game updates coming with the patch seem to be quality of life improvements. These will address a multitude of issues on everything from not being able to complete quests to issues with the interface.
This new update comes at a time when the atmosphere surrounding the game’s DLC has been growing increasingly more tense. Fans have been mad about the post-game content’s performance, sparseness, and monetization priorities. It looks like this latest update is hoping to address some of these issues, and hopefully the River Raid content and future Assassin’s Creed Valhalla DLC will be able to course correct.
Assassin's Creed Valhalla is out now for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
