Comic book readers may be disappointed to hear that Adam Warlock won't be ing the Avengers and the Guardians in the movie, to an ultimate showdown between Earth's mightiest heroes and the Mad Titan Thanos, which people assume will be heavily inspired by Jim Starlin's iconic comic book miniseries, Infinity Gauntlet.
In the miniseries, Thanos all-powerful Infinity Gauntlet. When all six stones are used in union with a device like the Gauntlet, the wearer (in this case, Thanos) practically turns into a god, for all intents and purposes. The Gauntlet imbues the wearer with omnipotence and omniscience, and he or she becomes virtually unstoppable. Only a handful of people can stop someone like that, and Adam Warlock is one of them.
During a Q&A on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, the character will not be appearing in Anthony and Joe Russo's Avengers: Infinity War next year.
"Adam Warlock will not be in Infinity War … he will have a future in the MCU. But will it be in Infinity War? It will not."
Warlock was first teased in planned on introducing the character into the MCU, especially in regard to his close association with the Infinity Stones as well as his personal history with Thanos.
Now that both James Gunn and Marvel Studios head honcho Kevin Feige have confirmed that Warlock won't be appearing in Avengers: Infinity War, that opens up several questions as to what the iconic character's place actually is in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Considering the events of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Who knows, perhaps we'll see Warlock's future, villainous self, Magus, the fold.
While it's disappointing that Adam Warlock won't be ing the Avengers and the Guardians in their fight against the Mad Titan, it's plausible that the studio just thought adding another character to the roster presumably release sometime in 2020.
