Everyone's favorite Adventure Time couple is back for an all-new comic special. The romance between Princess Bubblegum and Marceline (or Bubbline) has been one of the most endearing aspects of the Adventure Time franchise for much of its audience. Fans have loved watching this union flourish both onscreen and in comic book expansions, where the power couple's marriage births a dark empire.

The next Adventure Time comic to star Princess Bubblegum and Marceline will be Adventure Time: The Bubbline College Special #1 by Eisner Award winner Caroline Cash (PeePee PooPoo). Released by Oni Press in partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products, Adventure Time: The Bubbline College Special #1 is set to come out in August. Cover art can be found below.

I've been a fan of the show since it came out. I watching it when it premiered on Cartoon Network. I think I was 14 years old? It completely shaped my comics making career as well, the first comics I read (outside of manga and newspaper comics) were by people who worked on Adventure Time. Since the show ended, I didn't think I would ever have a chance to work on anything Adventure Time related, so this has been a bit of a dream come true.

I was in the tumblr trenches fighting for my life at 15 when the What Was Missing episode dropped and was a part of the Bubbline speculation in real time. I when Marceline's voice actor said they were ex girlfriends... I watched the Stakes series in college with my friends who also grew up with the show... again it is crazy to me that I have been given the opportunity to add to the canon of them being in love in every universe... favorite couple forever... an OTP dare I say…

More than just fanfiction, this Adventure Time comic will be a love letter to love itself, at least that between Bubbline as a queer couple. As editor Megan Brown expressed in her statement, this story will be "unapologetically queer," something that has been one of the more powerful sentiments to come out of the franchise. Adventure Time was always praised as being one of the better sources of animated queer representation, largely because of Bubbline. The creative team behind this Adventure Time comic not only has the chance to celebrate Bubbline in full-force, but be unwavering in celebrating queerness.
