Apple TV+’s original series The Afterparty tackles an exciting murder mystery ed by a comedic cast and compelling characters. The Afterparty follows various murder mysteries investigated by Detective Danner, with season 1 focusing on the murder of a celebrity at a high school reunion and season 2 exploring the killing of the groom at a wedding. Each character present at the afterparty of the deadly event is considered a suspect, with every episode getting closer to identifying the killer by following a different guest's perspective on the events. Additionally, each character's recollection of the incident is told through the lens of a different movie genre.
The whodunit murder mystery series relies on a cast of notable comic actors, several of whom have previously led successful comedy TV shows and movies. With the various talents and comedic styles of The Afterparty’s cast, the path to Detective Danner discovering the true murderer is all the more enjoyable. The Afterparty season 2 only features a few returning actors and characters from the first season, but the stories brilliantly flow together as Danner, Aniq, and Zoe find themselves involved in yet another murder mystery.
Tiffany Haddish As Detective Danner
Detective Danner, portrayed by comedian Tiffany Haddish, is an investigator who takes the lead on The Afterparty seasons 1 and 2's murder cases. Not backing down, Danner uses her talent as a detective to grill each and every suspect, strategically deriving various motives, slip-ups, and hidden details from the night in question as the former classmates recount all of their stories. Outside of her stand-up comedy performances, Tiffany Haddish is best known for her roles as Nekeisha Williams on The Carmichael Show, Dina in Girls Trip, Carrie in Night School, and Psychic in Disney’s Haunted Mansion movie reboot.
Sam Richardson As Aniq
After attending Xavier's wild afterparty in season 1 and Edgar's wedding afterparty in season 2, Aniq becomes both a suspect and "partner" to Detective Danner in The Afterparty. While trying to clear his name from Xavier’s murder, Aniq is also focused on itting his romantic feelings for Zoe before The Afterparty season 1's ending. Aniq returns in The Afterparty season 2 as Zoe's date to Grace and Edgar's wedding, where he hopes to impress her parents before the event turns sour. Actor Sam Richardson has also appeared in Veep, Detroiters, M.O.D.O.K., Ted Lasso, and Hocus Pocus 2.
Zoë Chao As Zoe
Actress Zoë Chao stars in The Afterparty seasons 1 and 2 as Zoe, who becomes a suspect in the murders of her former classmate Xavier and brother-in-law Edgar. Zoe was previously married to Brett, with whom she has a young daughter named Maggie, before dating Aniq in The Afterparty season 2. Chao is best ed for her roles in Senior Year, Your Place or Mine, Strangers, Love Life, and Where’d You Go, Bernadette.

Ben Schwartz As Yasper
Ben Schwartz portrays Yasper, Aniq’s outgoing and ive best friend from high school who desperately longs for a career in music. The boldness of Yasper, who is always prepared to put on a show, makes him a prime suspect for Xavier's murder in The Afterparty season 1. Ben Schwartz is notable for playing the character of Jean-Ralphio Saperstein on Parks and Recreation, Clyde Oberholt on House of Lies, Marvin in Night School, Teddy Lobo in Renfield, and for voicing Sonic the Hedgehog in the 2020 film of the same name and its 2022 sequel.
Ike Barinholtz As Brett
Brett is a twist on Ike Barinholtz’s typical comedy roles, with his The Afterparty character serving as the disgruntled, tough guy ex-husband of Zoe. Brett, who was popular back in high school, uses the high school reunion and Xavier’s afterparty as a way to try to win back Zoe, with plenty of action-heavy stunts along the way. Ike Barinholtz is known for his roles in MadTV, The Mindy Project, and Neighbors, as well as directing and starring alongside Tiffany Haddish in The Oath.
Ilana Glazer As Chelsea
Comedian Ilana Glazer stars as Chelsea in The Afterparty season 1. Chelsea is the former class president who mysteriously lost her hold, with Chelsea harboring much paranoia while others discuss her alcoholism during Xavier's murder investigation. Ilana Glazer is best known for co-creating and starring in the series Broad City as Ilana Wexler, along with her roles in the films Rough Night and False Positive.
Dave Franco As Xavier
Dave Franco appears in The Afterparty season 1 as Xavier, the rich and famous high school alum who is murdered at his titular afterparty. After being unpopular in high school, Xavier became an extremely well-known pop star and millionaire before reuniting with his old classmates. While Xavier is killed in The Afterparty’s pilot, he’s still featured prominently through flashbacks and retellings of the fateful night. Dave Franco’s other acting credits include roles in the 21 Jump Street movies, the Neighbors franchise, Now You See Me, Nerve, and Scrubs season 9.
Jamie Demetriou As Walt
English actor Jamie Demetriou plays Walt, a socially awkward alum who is frustrated that nobody at the reunion can who he is. A possible suspect in Xavier’s murder, Walt is a quiet presence in The Afterparty season 2 who is always around, but hardly acknowledged, even though he’s eager to make a lasting impression on his old classmates. Demetriou is best known for playing Bus Rodent in Fleabag, and has appeared in movies and shows like Stath Lets Flats, Sherlock Gnomes, and Cruella.
Genevieve Angelson As Indigo
A social activist with a very artistic personality whose story is also told in Danner's high school reunion investigation. Angelson has previously been seen in This Is Us season 5, House of Lies, and Good Girls Revolt.
Tiya Sircar As Jennifer #1
One of the Jennifers from the high school reunion who is pregnant and married to Ned. Sircar is known for playing Vicky on The Good Place, Neha in The Internship, and voicing Sabine Wren on Star Wars Rebels.
Kelvin Yu as Ned
The husband of Jennifer #1 who also has a love for pranks. Better known for writing and producing Bob’s Burgers as well as his behind-the-scenes work on Central Park, Yu has also been seen in Milk and Master of None.
John Early As Detective Culp
The partner of Detective Danner in The Afterparty season 1 who is a stickler for the rules. Early has appeared in HBO Max's Search Party as Elliott Goss, 30 Rock as Jerome, and Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising as Darren.
Everly Carganilla as Maggie
The young daughter of Brett and Zoe. Carganilla has also been seen in Yes Day as Ellie and The Chair as Ju-Hee.

Poppy Liu As Grace
Poppy Liu stars in The Afterparty season 2 as Grace, Zoe's sister who is getting married to Edgar. The morning after her wedding, Grace wakes up to find her new husband dead before becoming a suspect in his murder. Liu is also known for starring in Dead Ringers, American Born Chinese, Hacks, and Sunnyside.
Zach Woods As Edgar
Zach Woods plays Edgar in The Afterparty season 2, an eclectic and wealthy man in the tech industry who carries a lizard on his shoulder. After marrying Grace, Edgar is found dead from poisoning, with each wedding afterparty guest being a suspect in his murder. Woods is best known for playing Gabe on The Office, as well as appearing in Silicon Valley, Playing House, Veep, and Avenue 5.
Ken Jeong As Feng
Ken Jeong plays Grace and Zoe's father, who owns a food truck. Jeong is best known for his comedic roles in The Hangover movies, Community, Dr. Ken, Knocked Up, and Role Models, as well as his stint as a ist on The Masked Singer.
Vivian Wu As Vivian

Anna Konkle As Hannah
Edgar's adopted sister Hannah is played by Anna Konkle in The Afterparty season 2. Hannah becomes a suspect in her adoptive brother's murder after his wedding. Konkle most notably co-created and starred in Hulu's PEN15, and has appeared in shows and movies like Big Mouth, Rosewood, and The Drop.
Elizabeth Perkins As Isabel
Elizabeth Perkins plays Edgar and Hannah's mother Isabel in The Afterparty season 2. The wealthy Isabel appears to reject Grace's family, but she ultimately remains a suspect for her son Edgar's murder. Perkins is best known for her roles in About Last Night, Big, The Flintstones, 1994's Miracle on 34th Street, and Weeds.
Paul Walter Ha As Travis
Grace's fedora-wearing ex-boyfriend who was invited to her wedding as a courtesy. As Grace's former boyfriend, Travis becomes a prime suspect in Edgar's murder. Ha has also been seen in I, Tonya, BlacKkKlansman, Richard Jewell, and Cruella.
Jack Whitehall As Sebastian
Sebastian is Edgar's best man and tech colleague. Sebastian also easily charms Grace's family at the wedding, much to Aniq's annoyance. Whitehall is known for his roles in Jungle Cruise, Bad Education, Fresh Meat, and Good Omens.
John Cho As Ulysses
Ulysses is Grace and Zoe's eclectic uncle who is invited to the wedding as a surprise by The Afterparty season 2's murder victim Edgar. Cho is best known for starring in the Harold & Kumar movies, the Star Trek reboot movies, and Searching.
