Age of Empires IV first entered public consciousness in 2017 but remained hidden from the spotlight until Microsoft showcased gameplay footage during its X019 event in late 2019. Every now and then newcomers the party, too, often providing fresh takes on the tried and true tactics-based formula. Dieselpunk game Iron Harvest serves as but one example, having charmed its way into the hearts of RTS faithful in 2020.
