Several Ahsoka, and most of them will appear in live-action for the first time. Except for Chopper, which debuted in live-action in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, none of the Rebels characters created for that show had appeared in live-action before the Ahsoka trailer and The Mandalorian season 3. Sabine Wren (Natasha Liu Bordizzo), Hera Syndulla (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), Grand iral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen), and Ezra Bridger (Eman Esfandi) are all debuting in live-action in Ahsoka, which is arguably Star Wars Rebels season 5. Almost nine years after Rebels premiered, viewers will get to revisit those characters in a different media.

Animated Star Wars characters making the jump to live-action has become very common recently. For example, Bo-Katan Kryze (Katee Sackhoff) and Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson) debuted in live-action in The Mandalorian season 2, and a live-action Cad Bane appeared in The Book of Boba Fett. While Ahsoka can work for those who have not watched Rebels, the show is continuing several storylines from the animated series. In fact, Ahsoka is recreating moments from Star Wars Rebels’ ending. Of course, a live-action character will not look the same as they did in animation. From Sabine’s armor design to Ezra’s hair color, here are nine live-action changes made to Star Wars Rebels characters in Ahsoka.

9 Sabine’s Armor Is Different Rebels’ Epilogue

There are some subtle but noticeable differences between Sabine Wren’s armor in Ahsoka and the one from Star Wars Rebels’ epilogue. The Ahsoka show is recreating Star Wars Rebels’ epilogue, including the moment Sabine visits the mural she painted and reunites with Ahsoka Tano. While the lighting of the scene can explain why Sabine’s clothes look darker in Rebels, the chest plate from her armor has a different design in live-action. The pattern of the stripes is slightly different in Ahsoka compared to Rebels, and the way the belt connects is also different. Those changes are minimal, though, and Ahsoka’s Sabine is looking very accurate to Rebels.

8 Sabine’s Hair Color Is Different From Rebels’ Epilogue

Another small but noticeable difference between Sabine’s live-action look and Rebels’ epilogue is the hair color. While Sabine Wren is known for changing her hair color quite often, her hair looks slightly different in Ahsoka from Rebels’ final scene. Sabine’s hair is still purple in live-action, but it is a different shade of purple compared to Star Wars Rebels. Sabine’s hair color in Rebels is also more uniform and vibrant than the live-action version. This change seems to be both a stylistic and practical choice made by the Ahsoka show.

7 Thrawn’s Lips Are Different From Star Wars Rebels

Grand iral Thrawn had never appeared on screen before Star Wars Rebels season 3. Thrawn was introduced in Timothy Zahn’s Heir to the Empire novel as part of the Expanded Universe, and the only official visual portrayals of the character before Rebels were from Star Wars comics. Therefore, Ahsoka had a lot of room to develop how Thrawn should look in live-action action. While Lars Mikkelsen’s Thrawn looks quite similar to how the character is often portrayed, his lips do not seem to have the reddish color from Star Wars Rebels.

6 Thrawn’s Hair Color Is Different From Star Wars Rebels

Thrawn’s hair in Ahsoka is also different from Star Wars Rebels, although this also has to do with how dark hair usually has a blueish color in stylized animated shows. Whether Thrawn’s hair is actually black or blue was open for debate, and Ahsoka is going with the former. Thrawn’s hair in Star Wars Rebels was blue-black, but so was Ezra Bridger. From an in-universe perspective, it was difficult to say if Thrawn’s hair was supposed to look blueish, or if it that was just a stylistic choice made by Rebels. Regardless, Thrawn’s hair in Ahsoka is completely black with no shades of blue.

5 Jacen Syndulla’s Hair Color Is Different From Rebels’ Epilogue

Jacen Syndulla is not in any Ahsoka trailer. However, a Star Wars LEGO set strongly suggests that Jacen Syndulla will be in Ahsoka. Jacen is the son of Hera Syndulla and Kanan Jarrus, and the character first appeared during Star Wars Rebels’ ending epilogue. What happened to Jacen Syndulla after Star Wars Rebels is a mystery that Ahsoka can finally answer. Interestingly, Jacen, who is human and not Twi’lek, had green hair in Rebels. However, in Ahsoka, Jacen has brown hair. Either Ahsoka is retconning Jacen Syndulla’s Rebels look, or Sabine dyed Jacen’s hair green at some point.

4 Rebels’ “Ahsoka The White” Look Is Missing From Ahsoka

One of the biggest differences between Ahsoka and Star Wars Rebels’ epilogue is the lack of the “Ahsoka the White” look. After returning from the World Between Worlds back into her original timeline, Ahsoka would only appear again in Rebels’ final scene. Ahsoka was wearing a white cloak and carrying a stiff – inspired by Gandalf’s return as Gandalf the White in Lord of the Rings. However, in what appears to be Ahsoka’s version of the Rebels epilogue, Ahsoka is wearing a gray cloak. This might not be the exact same moment, but it is difficult to imagine why Ahsoka would switch from one cloak to another in the same scene.

3 Hera’s Jacket Never Appeared In Star Wars Rebels

Hera Syndulla in Star Wars Rebels and Ahsoka.

Hera’s outfit remained mostly the same throughout Star Wars Rebels. Ahsoka is giving Hera Syndulla an updated look, although it still feels like something Hera would use in Rebels. The flight cap is back, and so are the pilot goggles. However, Hera’s jacket from Ahsoka never appeared in Star Wars Rebels. Hera did wear a similar jacket in Star Wars: Rogue Squadron, during which the character was portrayed in a more realistic 3D model.

2 Hera’s Flight Cap Is Different From Rebels’ Epilogue

Hera’s flight cap is similar to the one she whore in Rebels’ epilogue, but it is not the same one. In her final Star Wars Rebels scene, Hera is wearing a brown flight cap that has a large orange stripe in the middle of it. In Ahsoka, there is no orange stripe. The flying goggles’ size is also different – shorter in live-action compared to Rebels. That said, Hera has used more than once flight caps and goggles in Star Wars canon, so this change is far from being a retcon like Jacen Syndulla’s hair.

1 Ezra’s Hair Color Is Different From Star Wars Rebels

So far, the only images of Ezra Bridger in Ahsoka are from the holomessage Sabine is watching. How big of a role Ezra will have in Ahsoka is difficult to say, but the entire show seems to abound in finding Ezra and Thrawn. While an actual first look at live-action Ezra Bridger outside of the hologram has yet to be revealed, there is already a noticeable difference compared to Rebels. Ezra’s hair in live-action is completely dark, whereas Ezra’s hair in Rebels had a blueish tone, especially in seasons 1 and 2. Of course, this has to do with how stylized Star Wars Rebels’ animation was.
