Star Wars Celebration 2025 reveals was the news that Dave Filoni is still working on the script for the season.

This means that at least certain points of the story remain up in the air, but the Ahsoka season 1 finale did leave some clear plot points open-ended that should be followed up upon in the next season. One of these storylines involved the appearance of Anakin Skywalker's Force Ghost on Peridea, watching over Ahsoka. Presumably, Anakin's Force Ghost will therefore play a key role in Ahsoka season 2, but there are at least two other thrilling roles for Anakin to play.

Hayden Christensen Returns For More Clone Wars Flashbacks

Christensen Has Hinted That More Clone Wars Scenes Are Coming

One of the most exciting parts of Ahsoka season 1 was the reunion of Ahsoka Tano and Anakin Skywalker in the World Between Worlds. Not only did this offer Ahsoka the closure she desperately needed, as she was still experiencing grief and guilt over Anakin's fall to the dark side, but these scenes in the World Between Worlds brought the Clone Wars era to live-action for the first time. In these (relatively brief) scenes, we saw Hayden Christensen donning the Clone Wars armor and Ahsoka and Anakin together in live-action for the very first time.

Ahsoka episode 5 has provided its titular Jedi with a brand-new costume, and this is what that costume change means for her ongoing journey.

Now, it seems Anakin may be returning in Ahsoka season 2 in part to have even more Clone Wars flashback scenes. Among Hayden Christensen's hints about Ahsoka season 2, he has said:

"It was too much fun. I just think it's a very compelling period in Anakin's life that we never really got to see in live-action. And I when we were going to do episode three, having conversations with George Lucas about what Anakin was up to in between two and three, and he was talking to me about the Clone Wars and how he was this great warrior and a leader, and I was like, 'That sounds really cool, George!' And then just how well it was presented in the animated world. I was just really excited to get to do that in live-action. You know, as much as I love the traditional Jedi robes that we kind of exclusively wore during the prequels, it was nice to see Anakin with a new look."

Although Christensen does not come right out and confirm that more Clone Wars moments are coming—which is something that would be very unlikely in the Star Wars franchise, wherein story elements are kept tightly under wraps—his enthusiasm regarding exploring this period suggests we could be in for even more flashbacks to this critical point in the Star Wars timeline.

Anakin's Force Ghost Guides Ahsoka & Sabine On Peridea

The Finale Already Set Up This Future For The Trio

Anakin's Force ghost from Ahsoka episode 8 looking serious

In addition to the possibility of more Clone Wars content, which Christensen would evidently be open to, the appearance of Anakin's Force Ghost on Peridea at the end of Ahsoka season 1 hinted that he will be central moving forward. Star Wars has increasingly added to the number of Force Ghosts in the galaxy, although Anakin was one of the three in the original Star Wars trilogy. Now, though, we will presumably get to see so much more of his Force Ghost. This is particularly exciting following the sequel trilogy, which revealed just how much Force Ghosts can do.

Hopefully, Anakin will be guiding Ahsoka and Sabine on Peridea as a Force Ghost, which was seemingly the implication of both Sabine and Ahsoka sensing his presence. This would be a wonderful way to continue Anakin and Ahsoka's relationship, which is one of the most popular in the franchise, and it would make sense for the larger narrative. Ahsoka season 2 promises some major storylines, and this would certainly fit the bill.

Hopefully, Anakin will be guiding Ahsoka and Sabine on Peridea as a Force Ghost.

Anakin Becomes The Father To Complete The Mortis Gods Story

This Theory Is The Perfect Conclusion To Anakin's Story

Baylan Skoll stands among statues of the Mortis gods in Ahsoka episode 8.

Although it's only a theory at this point, and easily the most uncertain of the three, there is also speculation that Anakin may become the new Father of the Mortis Gods. The Mortis Gods were introduced in Star Wars: The Clone Wars and comprised a trio of gods: the Father, the Son, and the Daughter. The Daughter embodied the light side of the Force, the Son embodied the dark side, and the Father represented balance in the Force. However, at the end of that arc, all three gods had died.

The Mortis gods are some of Star Wars’ most powerful Force-wielders, and Dave Filoni is using them to unite The Clone Wars, Rebels, and now Ahsoka.

Ahsoka season 1 signaled their potential return, though, as Baylan Skoll is clearly on a quest to find them. This the Chosen One in Star Wars, as he would quite literally be bringing balance to the Force as the Father.

It remains to be seen whether Star Wars would really do this, although it would make plenty of sense. After all, Dave Filoni's role in Star Wars is directly linked to Ahsoka Tano's story, the Mortis Gods, and the Ahsoka show, so this would be the perfect culmination of his various Star Wars brain children. Clearly, there is so much left to explore with Anakin Skywalker's story in Ahsoka season 2.
