Rosario Dawson's Star Wars show, Ahsoka, officially releases this summer on Disney Plus. After first appearing in the animated show Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Ahsoka Tano was brought to life in The Mandalorian by Dawson before it was then announced that the character would get her own spinoff. Dave Filoni will write the show and direct several episodes, and Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Natasha Liu Bordizzo are included in the cast.

At Star Wars Celebration 2023 in London on Friday, Dawson confirms that the Ahsoka release date is "soon," and a poster subsequently shared by the official Star Wars Twitter confirms that the show will land on Disney Plus in August of this year. Check out the first poster below:

The poster doesn't reveal too much about the series, but the release will mean that following the end of The Mandalorian season 3, audiences won't have too long to wait before jumping back into a galaxy far, far away.

What To Expect From Ahsoka

In of story, few details were previously known about the show, but a recent Ahsoka trailer shown at Star Wars Celebration 2023 (and subsequently shared online) has revealed more about what’s to come. Crucially, it seems that Ahsoka’s search for allies and subsequent battle against Grand iral Thrawn (and a new Inquisitor warrior) will be a major focus of the show.

The trailer also reveals a first look at Winstead’s live-action Hera Syndulla, a character who first appeared in Star Wars Rebels before then returning in Star Wars: The Bad Batch. The trailer also provides a first look at Bordizzo’s Sabin Wren, another character who was first introduced in Star Wars Rebels. It’s likely there will also be a few other surprise character appearances.

In contrast to The Mandalorian, Ahsoka is billed as a limited series, which means it will likely tell a contained story within one season. In one major similarity, however, Ahsoka has been confirmed to use StageCraft production technology, which forgoes green or blue screen in favor of an adaptable wall of LED screens. While The Mandalorian uses this technology to great effect, it has been somewhat criticized in other properties like Obi-Wan Kenobi.
