Ahsoka episode 7 shows Sabine Wren and Ahsoka Tano finally reuniting. When they last parted ways on Seatos, Ahsoka had been cast into the sea by Baylan Skoll, causing Sabine to reevaluate her mission and place as Ahsoka’s Padawan. Despite Ahsoka imploring her to destroy the star map, Sabine chooses to go along with Skoll and ends up reuniting with her long-lost friend, Ezra Bridger. Ahsoka has been teasing Sabine’s connection to the Force since the show began, and episode 7 proves she has an actual connection to the Force and Ahsoka.
After Ahsoka and Huyang take the Pathway to Peridea via purrgil, they’re ambushed by Thrawn’s minefield, which he cunningly set up before their arrival. Forced to flee, Ahsoka briefly hides in the ring of Peridea among the bony carcasses of ancient purrgil. While Huyang tries in vain to pick up Sabine’s signal on the planet below, Ahsoka takes a completely different approach to finding Sabine. Using her connection to Sabine, Ahsoka attempts to her through the Force from the planet’s atmosphere.
Sabine & Ahsoka Share A Master-Padawan Bond
For the first time in Star Wars, Sabine Wren shows potential as a Jedi by briefly sensing and responding to Ahsoka’s call through the Force. Much like when Leia hears Luke calling to her on Bespin in The Empire Strikes Back, Sabine senses Ahsoka’s connection and calls back to her. Up until now, Sabine and Ahsoka have been at odds with one another as Master and Padawan. When Ahsoka first suggests finding Sabine through the Force, even Huyang doubts such a thing is possible asking, “are you sure your connection is strong enough?” Nevertheless, Ahsoka episode 7 demonstrates how Sabine and Ahsoka have finally connected.
Is Sabine Opening Up To The Force At Last?
In Star Wars Rebels, Jedi Knight Kanan Jarrus once described Sabine as “blocked” to the Force. He believed she had the potential to succeed with the Darksaber, but that her past held her back from actually utilizing the full extent of her abilities. Now that she’s reached a low point after ing Baylan Skoll and giving him the map, she may have undergone a change of character. Just as Ahsoka went through a sort of rebirth in the World Between Worlds, Sabine may have grown to accept her abilities as a Jedi.
When Sabine describes her feeling with Ahsoka, she tells Ezra that it felt “familiar.” This could be because she’s used to Ahsoka’s presence as her master, but it could also mean that she’s felt a similar connection to the Force before. If so, then this further solidifies Kanan’s belief that Sabine has always had the Force within her, but has kept herself closed to it until now. Now, not only does Ahsoka believe in Sabine, but Ezra Bridger even tells her to keep his old lightsaber. With her first true use of the Force displayed, Ahsoka episode 7 sets Sabine up as a true Jedi in the making for the finale.
