While almost all the TV shows on The CW have been canceled, the All American seasons ed by, Spencer's career continued to flourish, while his loved ones' dreams were also coming true. Before viewers knew it, the once-teenage characters were adults.

Three original All American stars will remain in the main cast for season 7 — Michael Evans Behling as Jordan Baker, Greta Onieogou as Layla Keating, and Bre-Z as Coop.

After the ending of All American season 6, Spencer is now married to Olivia Baker and is living out his dreams of playing professional football (in the NFL). Jordan Baker and Layla Keating are also married and looking to the future. It seems as if almost all the original All American characters are moving on with their lives, meaning it's time for new ones to enter the picture. All American season 7 will feature a revamped cast and take the show's story back to high school. While the new direction is exciting, it's also disappointing to bid farewell to so many beloved characters.

7 Daniel Ezra

Spencer James

Daniel Ezra announced his All American exit ahead of season 7 before the other departures were disclosed. Since Ezra has been the face of The CW show since the beginning, his exit was a bit of a surprise. However, once it was revealed he wouldn't be returning as a series regular in season 7, it was only a matter of time before others followed suit. Ezra told Deadline:

"When I learned that season 6 was going to go into Spencer finally getting into the NFL…I realized that I had kind of completed the mission. I had done what I had set out to do in regards to playing Spencer. I’d always wanted to get him to the NFL. I’d always wanted him to put himself back together again and heal from his wounds and turn him into a man. I realized that, with this season, we had actually done that...It actually ended up being, I believe, the perfect time for it, a really great way to kind of close out this season. Hopefully, moving forward [it will] take All American into a new place as well. So it just felt right on all fronts."

As Ezra explained, Spencer achieved his initial goal — he was drafted by an NFL team (the fictional New York Bobcats) and won a Super Bowl with them. Plus, Spencer is married to the girl of his dreams. What more could he want? It makes sense to end Spencer's story after the All American season 6 finale, and it will be easy to do so. He and Olivia are happy in New York City, where he can play football professionally and she can be a writer. However, according to Variety, Ezra will return to direct and guest star in All American season 7.

6 Samantha Logan

Olivia Baker

Given that Daniel Ezra is leaving All American after six seasons, it makes sense that Samantha Logan would, as well. Logan has starred as Olivia Baker in the sports drama TV series since the pilot episode. Olivia had been through so many ups and downs over the course of All American's six seasons, but Olivia finally got her happy ending in the season 6 finale when she married Spencer and moved to New York. If the show were to continue after that, the writers would likely have to make Olivia experience even more drama and heartbreak, which many likely don't want to see.

When All American season 7 premieres, Olivia (who will continue to write) and Spencer will assumingly still be living in New York City. So, the newlyweds seemingly don't fit in with the show's new direction. The official logline for All American season 7 states:

"[All American season 7 brings the drama] back to where it all began: Beverly Hills High and South Crenshaw High. It’s the same heart, same NFL dream, same crosstown rivalry, same messy hormones, ushered in by a new generation of L.A. teens, a new Beverly coach and our OG Vortex fam, who are surprised to find they’re supposed to be the responsible adults now."

5 Cody Christian

Asher Adams

Unfortunately, Cody Christian's Asher Adams also won't be a part of the revamped All American season 7 cast, which doesn't make much sense given how the character's story ended in season 6. Asher left Coastal California College to work as Beverly Hills High's assistant football coach. If anyone were to return in All American season 7, one would have thought it would be Asher. However, that won't be the case as Christian is one of the seven main cast who won't be in All American season 7.

Perhaps in the time between seasons 6 and 7, Asher was offered a coaching position elsewhere that was too good to on. He is a father now, after all, and needs to prioritize his family. If a job at a different school offers Asher a better salary, he would be a fool to deny it. There might be another explanation for Asher's absence, but his leaving to coach elsewhere makes the most sense. Ultimately, only time will tell how All American season 7 answers the question of Asher's ending, but it will be hard to do, given his storyline in the last season.

4 Karimah Westbrook

Grace James

Karimah Westbrook, who played Grace James, is among those All American cast not returning as series regulars in season 7. Grace not appearing makes sense. She is no longer the Dean of Student Affairs at South Crenshaw High School, and her sons, Spencer and Dillon, are away doing their own things. Grace raised two wonderful boys, and now she gets to relax and take care of herself.

If Spencer and Dillon are not in South Crenshaw, then there is seemingly no reason for her to be there, as well.

Given that Grace moved out of South Crenshaw before the All American season 6 finale, Westbrook leaving The CW teen sports drama series didn't come as a surprise. Grace's story has already concluded, and she seemingly doesn't have a place in All American season 7's plot. If Spencer and Dillon are not in South Crenshaw, then there is seemingly no reason for her to be there, as well. So, fans have (sadly) likely seen the last of Westbrook as James in All American.

All American season 2 ends with some big cliffhangers for season 3. Here's an explanation of what happens to the main characters and what it means.

3 Monet Mazur

Laura Fine-Baker

As many may recall, Laura Fine-Baker gave her son, Jordan, and daughter-in-law, Layla, the deed to her house during the All American season 6 finale. After Billy died in All American season 5 and her kids have moved out, Laura has undoubtedly been lonely in the big house. So, Jordan and Layla, both of whom will be series regulars in season 7, will be living at the iconic Baker house instead of Laura.

It's unclear what comes next for Laura after the ending of All American season 6. However, since her kids really aren't kids anymore, she's free to do whatever she wants as she enters this next chapter of her life. Plus, Jordan and Layla will take on the adult roles in the cast of All American season 7, meaning there is really no need for Monet Mazur to reprise her role as Laura when the sports drama returns.

2 Jalyn Hall

Dillon James

Sadly, the entire James family will be out of the picture when All American season 7 premieres. Jalyn Hall is officially leaving the cast of The CW TV series, meaning his character, Dillon James, is not expected to appear in the episodes. Hall has been in and out of the football show All American in recent seasons, so, his exit isn't all that surprising,

Just because he's gone doesn't mean that Dillon won't be thriving in All American season 7. Spencer's little brother will likely still be studying at Boston Benwood School of Arts and pursuing his dreams of being an artist. Given his ive, talented, and hard-working family, it's only a matter of time before Dillon's dreams come true in the All American universe.

1 Chelsea Tavares

Patience Robinson

Even though Coop will remain a main character in All American season 7, Patience Robinson, played by Chelsea Tavares, won't be. Tavares is among those not set to return following the season 6 finale. Given how the season ended, it's understandable why Patience wouldn't appear in future episodes.

As of the writing of this article, The CW has not announced a specific release date for All American season 7, but it is expected to premiere sometime in 2025. In the meantime, fans can catch up on all six seasons of the sports drama TV series on Netflix.

Patience was cast in a Broadway production in New York City. So, she will be among those living their dreams during season 7's timeline. Since Patience is stationed in New York City for the foreseeable future, it would not make sense for her to have a series regular role after season 6. However, fans shouldn't be surprised if Tavares guest stars in an episode or two of All American season 7 to visit her girlfriend, Coop.
