After starring in the classic coming-of-age movie Ally Sheedy doesn't love The Breakfast Club as much as its many fans, the movie's influence on popular culture cannot be underestimated. In fact, such was its significance that The Breakfast Club even gave rise to a new generation of young stars – the Brat Pack.

The Brat Pack was a group of young actors who became famous because of how often they worked together. The pair cemented their place as part of the '80s actors in the Brat Pack after starring in movies that defined the 1980s teenage experience, including, St. Elmo’s Fire, Pretty in Pink, and Sixteen Candles. However, despite the frequency of their 80s collaborations, the Brat Pack hasn't remained united throughout the previous decades. In part, this is what makes Sheedy and Ringwald's successful reunion nearly four decades on from The Breakfast Club so noteworthy.

Sheedy And Ringwald Working Together Again Evoked A Sense Of Nostalgia

The iconic stars from The Breakfast Club reunited for a single episode in Freeform’s comedy, Single Drunk Female. Remarkably, the TV show is the first time the actors have collaborated since 1990. Despite having Sheedy and Ringwald having worked with John Hughes on multiple movies before, Single Drunk Female is only the third time they have collaborated. Ringwald and Sheedy’s reunion in Single Drunk Female brought a fresh dynamic to the TV show that evoked a sense of nostalgia for audiences. 38 years after The Breakfast Club, Sheedy took on the role of Carol Fink, Samantha Fink’s mother on the show.

Carol is a complicated character who is often overbearing and sometimes misunderstands Sam’s path to sobriety, but she ultimately wants what’s best for her daughter. By contrast, Ringwald guest starred on the TV show as Alice, Carol’s seemingly perfect sister-in-law who has a knack for getting under her skin and can do nothing wrong in Sam’s eyes. Because of these traits, Carol and Alice seemed to be the opposite of The Breakfast Club’s Claire Standish and Allison Reynolds, making Sheedy and Ringwald's on-screen reunion a significant moment for fans of The Breakfast Club's legacy.
