Amanda Seyfried began acting at a very early age. As a teenager, Seyfried recurred on soap operas, As the World Turns and All My Children. After working in television for a number of years, Seyfried applied and was accepted to Fordham University in 2003, but turned down her acceptance when she was cast in the hit teen comedy, Mean Girlswritten by the hysterical Tina Fey.

This independent film, directed by Nick Cassavetes, was one of Amanda Seyfried's first film roles. This dark movie is based on the true story of the kidnapping and murder of Nick Markowitz in 2000. Nick was killed over a dispute involving drug money by Jesse James Hollywood. In the film re-telling, Seyfried plays Julie, who was based on the real life girlfriend of Nick when he was 17-years old.

Mamma Mia (2008) - 54%

This fun, hit movie musical is based on the Broadway jukebox musical with the same name. Both the movie and the show use music from ABBA to tell the story of a young woman, Sophie, played by Seyfried who is about to get married.

This follow up to the first movie musical is both a prequel and a sequel to the first film. In this movie, viewers get to see what happened after the first film, but also learn how Sophie's mom, Donna ended up on the island of Kalokairi and how she met each of Sophie's three potential fathers through flashback scenes to the year 1979.

This film brings back a lot of the cast from the first film, but also stars Lily James and Cher.

Big Love (2006) - 80%

Big Love on HBO premiered in 2006 and last for five season until 2011. The series tells the story of a fundamentalist Mormon family living in present day Utah. The series shows this family living in normal suburbia as well as their interactions with a fundamentalist compound in the area. In addition to Seyfried, the series also stars Bill Paxton,  Jeanne Tripplehorn, Chloë Sevigny, and Ginnifer Goodwin.

While We're Young (2014) - 84%

This independent feature film, directed by Noah Baumbach, stars Ben Stiller, Naomi Watts, Adam Driver, and Amanda Seyfried. It tells the story of Josh, played by Stiller, who is a documentary film maker and a college professor.

After a lecture, Josh is approached by Darby, played by Seyfried and her husband, Jamie, played by driver, who are both fans of his work. Josh and his wife, Cornelia, played by Watts, form an unlikely friendship with this young couple.

In Tina Fey's hit 2005 comedy, Mean GirlsAmanda Seyfried plays Karen, one of the "plastics" and best friends with Gretchen and Regina. When new girl, Cady, comes to North Shore High School, the plastics take her in as one of their own and help her navigate high school hierarchy. The hysterical film examines the in's and out's of high school and tackles serious topics like bullying, while at the same time, being one of the more entertaining and quotable films of the early 2000's.

Veronica Mars (2004) - 92%

Around the same time Amanda Seyfried was filming Mean Girls, she booked a recurring part on the teen television series,  Kristen Bell as the title character. In the series, Seyfried played Lilly Kane, who was murdered prior to the pilot episode. Lilly is seen in flashback scenes throughout the series, as well as in Veronica's daydreams, as she and Lilly were best friends and Lilly's murder is the catalyst for all the changes viewers see Veronica and her family go through in the first season.

First Reformed (2017) - 93%

In addition to Amanda Seyfried, this dramatic feature film also stars Ethan Hawke. This film tells the story of Pastor Ernst Toller, played by Hawke, who is struggling to lead his church and keep his faith intact. He is approached by a woman named Mary, played by Seyfried who asks for his help in counseling her husband, Michael. Michael is a radical-environmentalist, who eventually commits suicide. Upon her husband's death, Mary finds herself spending more time with Toller and the two develop a ionate, yet confusing relationship.
