Although it has not been confirmed who will play Kratos in Amazon's God of War live-action adaptation has been long overdue since the video game series' immense success. Fortunately, Amazon is already developing a television adaptation of the series, with Sony Pictures TV and MGM Amazon Studios teaming up as its co-producers.

Since the project is still in the early stages of development, not a lot seems to have been revealed about its creators and casting choices. However, it would be interesting to see who will play the main demigod character, Kratos, in the series. Considering Kratos' physical attributes and complex characterization, finding the right actor to play him could be a major headache for the show's creators. Interestingly, though, a closer look at an Amazon Prime Video detective series suggests that the streamer has already found its perfect Kratos for the God of War live-action series.

After Reacher, Olivier Richters Could Perfectly Embody Kratos In The God Of War Live-Action Show

He Seems To Have The Perfect Stature & Acting Chops To Play The Demigod

After seeing Reacher season 3's main villains proves he can play a troubled demigod. As seen in the God of War games, Kratos is also supposed to be incredibly tall and brawny, which again makes Olivier Richters the perfect casting choice for the role.

Standing at 7 feet 2 inches and weighing close to 350 pounds, Ritchters' physique is a near-perfect match for Kratos. In every Reacher season 3 scene he appears in, he makes his imposing presence known with his mammoth stature and intimidating demeanor. While sheer size alone may not be enough to qualify him as the God of War character, Richters' convincing portrayal of Paulie in Reacher season 3 proves that he has what it takes to capture the demigod's moral complexities and internal struggles in the live-action TV series.

Amazon's God Of War Show Could Give Richters His First Leading Role

Richters Has Not Played Any Leading Roles So Far

Also referred to as "The Dutch Giant," Olivier Richters only has a few movies in his acting portfolio. While Reacher gives him the opportunity to play one of the main villains in season 3, the actor has mostly made brief appearances in many big-budget projects, like Borderlands, The King's Man, Miami Heat, Black Widow, and Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. Owing to his size, Richters has often been typecast as the big bad side villain, preventing him from landing leading roles.

While Reacher season 3 does not necessarily break this trend, it gives him way more screen time than his previous roles, allowing him to put his acting chops on display. Paulie is more or less of a one-dimensional villain. What makes his presence in Reacher season 3 fascinating is that he proves to be a real threat to an otherwise invincible hero. However, despite this, Richters makes good use of his limited screen time by perfectly capturing how menacing Paulie can be. Hopefully, his performance in Reacher will pave the way for him to be cast as Kratos in Amazon's God of War.

Everything We Know About The God Of War Adaptation

The Series Can Be Expected To Be Faithful To Its Source Material

According to reports (via Deadline), Rafe Judkins was initially associated with God of War as its showrunner and executive producer. Hawk Ostby and Mark Fergus were also involved with the projects as EPs. However, all three of them departed from the series after finishing several scripts for the first season. Although the reason for their departure remains unknown, reports reveal that the studios involved with the project are planning to go in a different direction even though the trio's scripts were initially appreciated.

In association with PlayStation Productions, Sony Pictures TV and MGM Amazon Studios are together co-producing the series and looking for new writers to propel it in a new direction. The God of War live-action was initially supposed to follow the aftermath of Kratos' wife's death and its impact on his relationship with his estranged son. However, with new writers, it seems likely that the series will explore a different narrative avenue. Regardless of the direction it takes, it should have Olivier Richters as its main character, Kratos.
