Reading on an than an iPad or Android tablet, but if the default font size is too small, s can change it in a pinch. In the tech world today, certain gadgets dominate the headlines. There's always a new smartphone coming out, smartwatches continue to be popular, and there's a rapid rise of AR/VR headsets. It's a much different landscape than a few short years ago, and if anything's certain, it's that it'll look different again another few years down the road.

Among all of those things, there are also e-readers. E-readers aren't talked about nearly as much today as in the late 2000s, but they remain important gadgets that refuse to disappear. For all the advancements smartphones and tablets have made, a proper reading experience is still best on a dedicated e-reader. E-ink displays are more comfortable to look at, battery life lasts weeks instead of hours, and the interfaces are often easier to use.

Such is the case with Amazon's Kindle e-readers. Whether someone has a baseline Kindle, Kindle Paperwhite, or Kindle Oasis, these gadgets are perfect for getting lost in a good book. However, one potential problem is that their default font size may be too small. If you're trying to read on a Kindle but just can't make out the words all that well, grab your Kindle and open a book. Once it's open, tap the top of the screen to show the reading toolbar, tap the 'Aa' icon, tap 'Font,' and tap the '+' and '-' icons next to Size to increase and decrease the font, respectively.

As you tap the '+' and '-' icons, a preview at the top of the screen shows exactly how much of a difference is being made. Once the font is as big as you want it, tap the preview of the book and go back to reading. It really is that simple, and s can go back and adjust the font as often as they'd like.

Something else to consider is changing the style of the font. From that same 'Font' menu, tap 'Font Family' and choose from the list of available fonts. 'Publisher Default' is chosen by default, but s also have access to 'Amazon Ember,' 'Helvetica,' 'Futura,' and more. After choosing out of these optional fonts, s can then select a boldness for it — set by default at 0 and going up to 5. Ultimately, there's no right or wrong answer for how big the font should be or which style to use. Play around with all the available options, see which looks best to your eyes, and use whatever that happens to be. With those font settings updated, reading on your Amazon Kindle should be better than ever.
