Amazon’s ordered a Lord of the Rings TV series with a multi-season commitment. Despite production being underway, major details have been concealed about the fantasy series.
Set in a period long before the events of The Fellowship of the Ring, the series takes place on the J.R.R. Tolkein timeline known as The Second Age. Lasting 3,441 years, marking the One Ring's conception, and ending with the defeat of Sauron’s army, The Second Age certainly offers plentiful story arcs and fresh faces for the saga. Recently, Amazon announced its endeavor to produce cast actress Markella Kavengeh. The Australian actress will play a character named Tyra. Never mentioned in Tolkien’s work, Tyra is either a decoy name or character invented for the series. Now, the project has added another player.
According to Midsommar. Before those projects, Poulter displayed his acting chops in The Maze Runner franchise and The Revenant.
Having outbid Netflix for the rights, Amazon’s The Lord of the Rings show could be the Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom) - who’s been tapped to direct multiple episodes. The seasoned creative team also includes Lindsey Weber, Gene Kelly, Bruce Richmond, and Sharon Tal Yguado.
Poulter is the perfect addition to the cast and elusiveness of the Lord of the Rings series. The talented actor translates a thoughtfulness, wisdom, and intelligence to the screen, and will effortlessly fit into Tolkein’s world. Given the actor’s age, Poulter could fulfill the role of Isildur, Baldor, a young Aragorn, or a brand-new role entirely. No doubt Poulter will soon be ed by established players to round out the cast and bring Amazon’s The Lord of the Rings series to life.
