Roger the Alien is one of the funniest characters on American Dad, while also being one of the most horrifying. His version of reality does not align with anyone else's, and it remains a surprise how he has not been caught (again) by the government, considering how carelessly he waltzes around town.

This lack of attention could, in part, be due to his costume and theatrical skills, because Roger has some pretty wild ideas with regard to both of them. He was worn a lot of different disguises over the years, many of which appear in the opening song of the show starting from season 5. There are a few that truly stand out, though.

Madonna

Roger as Madonna

Embodying the peak of Madonna in the eighties, Roger takes on the superstar singer's iconic "Papa Don't Preach", a song about teenage pregnancy. He directs the lyrics at Hayley, saying that he's a "bit crazy" and that she has to show him "what he wants" because his "goal in life is to be a mom"?

The best part is at the end of the performance when Roger bumps into a clothing store owner and strips down to an unbelievably identical conical bra.

Glad Handz

Roger as Glad Handz

Roger calls himself an "IT-style evil clown named Glad Handz... with a z", trying to tempt Steve into the sewer. Of course, him mentioning it spoils whatever surprise he has planned.

The alien goes on to explain that he wanted to take revenge on Steve for "doing well", so he started "filing his teeth into points." Unfortunately for him, it doesn't work, and the next guy who walks by similarly ignores him. Still, it's surprisingly creepy, even for Roger,

Reaganomics Lamborghini

Roger and Steve

In a Back to the Future parody, Steve thinks that his time travel plan has failed because he meets Roger. However, the alien responds by saying his name is "Reaganomics Lamborghini, jacuzzi dealer."

If that's not 80s enough, he asks Steve if he wants to smoke "out of a pipe made from a Rubik's cube", before promptly setting his Prince-like wig on fire. His first name refers to the economic policies outlined by then US president, Ronald Reagan.

Raul

Roger as Raul

Roger becomes a Spanish bullfighter who cruelly abandons his lover, Marie Dubonet, because he wants a son (and she's "too old and barren.") As luck would have it, Raul learns that one of his toreador accidents has resulted in severe injuries to his reproductive organs; poetic justice for his hypocrisy.

Obviously, Roger also plays Captain Francois Dubonet, an officer of Interpol, who is actually married to the woman that Raul is having an affair with.

Cryptkeeper

Roger as the Cryptkeeper

For the hundredth episode of the series, the showrunners decided to have a little fun by making it all about how many people are going to die (hint: it's 100.) Roger dresses like the Cryptkeeper from the famous HBO anthology of horror, Tales from the Crypt.

He then announces that "tonight, we're gonna find out "Who shot Mr. Burns?" an allusion to a famous episode of The Simpsons. Roger consequently lapses into his usual self, sadly stating that he wants a baby when he learns that the shooter was Maggie.

Tearjerker

Roger as Tearjerker

As a spectacular homage to James Bond and, presumably, Goldfinger, Roger dons the persona of Tearjerker, a villain movie producer who kidnaps famous actors and supplanting them with strange robots of his own. It seems like he's won at the end when Stan and Francine (as Sexpun T'come) are themselves captured.

However, a last-second plan involving his wife's anatomy helps him defeat Tearjerker. A small tribute is made towards Terminator II when Roger's hand emerges from volcanic magma in one of the funniest episodes dedicated to him.

Horse Renoir

Roger as Horse Renoir

Jeff, Hayley's boyfriend, is apparently a wanted criminal back home in Florida, so Stan attempts to rescue him (after learning that all the drug-related crimes were his father's fault.)

Nevertheless, he must first defeat in that episode.)

Valik

Roger as Valik

When the Smiths are to have their twentieth wedding anniversary, Roger goes into a frenzy and turns into Valik, a blond-haired hooligan with heterochromia (one sparkling blue eye.) He promises the kids that he would murder them unless they manage to secure the best possible present for their parents.

Terrified, Hayley and Steve flee to South America, hoping that their persecutor would lose their scent. Of course, since Jeannie Gold runs her business in Argentina, allowing Valik to trail them all the way there.

The Phantom Of The Telethon

Roger as the Phantom

Roger is furious when Stan steals his telethon idea for the CIA and morphs into the Phantom (of the Opera). He fully enters the zone of this character, even hiding in the rafters and forcing Steve to play his damsel in distress, all the way "down in the catacombs".

Unfortunately, the Phantom frees a captive terrorist and Stan realizes that torturing him live would help them reach their financial goals. But poor Roger still doesn't get acknowledged for coming up with the whole idea in the first place.

Steve Smith

Roger as Steve Smith

This is probably one of the most bizarre characters played by Roger — when Steve wants to ask one of his classmates out, his alien friend suggests they swap "faces" so he can help him out.

Surprisingly, Roger-Steve treating Jenna horribly makes her attracted to him, but at this point, the fake flat-out objects to going back to his original face. Until, of course, his new girlfriend finds that she's pregnant. Before he wears this "disguise", though, Roger appears without a face. Super creepy.
