American Idol season 21 Top 3 finalist Colin Stough is engaged to his girlfriend, Mckenzie Rhett. Colin placed third in American Idol season 21 behind runner-up Megan Danielle and winner Iam Tongi. During the competition, the country singer was known for infusing songs from different genres with his own country style, including "It's Been Awhile" by Staind, "Hand In My Pocket" by Alanis Morissette, and "Dancing On My Own" by Robyn, for which he received rave reviews. Colin is now one of country music's most promising new artists.

In an Instagram post, Colin announced that he's engaged to Mckenzie, with whom he went Instagram official in September 2023. Colin shared a carousel of pictures from their engagement photo shoot.

In his caption, Colin wrote, "Only God knew that a pretty little angel would end up with a tatted up cowpoke. I love you and this life with you and I can’t wait for the miles and the memories we will have to my best friend and my life partner. Let’s get married." The comments section of the post was flooded with well-wishes from Colin's followers, including his fellow American Idol season 21 contestant Jon Wayne Hatfield and season 22 second runner-up Jack Blocker.

Colin's fiancée Mckenzie also achieved something impressive at a very young age. According to The Dispatch, in 2019, Mckenzie was crowned Miss Junior Teen Mississippi United States 2019 when she was 16 years old. Her platform was Jump Up for Diabetes, which educates kids about the disease and how to make healthy food and exercise choices. Like Colin, she's from Mississippi, from the city of Columbus. Colin and Mckenzie seem perfect for each other.

Colin Stough Releases EP & Performs All Over The Country

Colin Has Had A Very Successful Year

Since American Idol season 21 ended, Colin has been touring the country and releasing new music. He most recently performed at CMA Fest. Colin has also released his latest singles, "Sober" and "Makes Two Of Us." Both songs are included on his new EP, Lookin' For Home, which will be released on July 12. He co-wrote all six songs on the EP, including "Boat Somewhere," "Makes Two of Us," "Amen," "Sober," "Outside Lookin' In," and "Lookin' For Home."

Colin previously released his first EP, Promiseland, in 2023, which features six songs, including "Promiseland," "Lonely Hour," "'Til the Day One Does," "If Not For Me," "Shoulda Called Her," and "Sleep Tonight." His first single, "I Still Talk To Jesus," was released during American Idol season 21. Colin has also released an acoustic single of "Dancing On My Own," another single, "Bad Day," as well as his own version of Elvis Presley's Christmas classic, "Blue Christmas."

Colin Moved To Nashville, Tennessee

In an August 2023 Instagram post, Colin announced that he moved to Nashville, Tennessee after American Idol season 21. He included a photograph of himself wearing his signature cowboy hat and a denim shirt with a brown vest. Colin wrote, "I have to give all glory to the good lord. A year ago today I was working a full time job and also doing things on the side. Now I'm living in Nashville doing music full time." Colin added that he couldn't be more blessed to have made some of the great friends that he made and to have a great fan base.

Colin gave credit to his fans, stating that if it weren't for them, he wouldn't be able to play the shows that he'd had the opportunity to do. He also thanked the people at his label, the songwriters, his band , his fans, and the people who stream his music. Colin is originally from the small town of Amory, Mississippi. He previously worked as an HVAC technician there.

Coincidentally, Colin's fellow American Idol season 21 contestant Zachariah Smith, who made it to the Top 5, is also from Amory. During the show, a segment featured both Colin and Zachariah at Amory's Bill's Hamburgers, talking about auditioning for the show. Zachariah worked as the grill cook at the famous restaurant.

Since American Idol season 21, Colin has had so much success in the last year, both personally and professionally. At 19 years old, he's achieving his dreams, which is very inspiring to see. During the show, Colin showed tremendous growth as an artist. He took the advice of the judges--Lionel Richie, Katy Perry, and Luke Bryan--so that he could become the best singer that he could be. Colin has worked very hard to establish himself as a country music artist after American Idol.

American Idol season 23. Colin chose Adele because he respects her work ethic and because she stands up for what she believes in. Colin could be described in the same way. Colin even won LIVE with Kelly and Mark's American Idol Encore contest, during which he was selected by American Idol fans to perform on the show. Colin is an up-and-comer in the world of country music, and now he's gotten engaged as well. Colin and Mckenzie are wished all the best as they begin this new chapter of their lives together.
