American Idol season 23 finalist Breanna Nix placed third in the reality singing competition in 2025 behind winner Jamal Roberts and runner-up John Foster, and she's been very busy with her music career since the May 18 finale. Breanna, a 25-year-old stay-at-home mom from Denton, Texas, received three votes of yes from American Idol judges Lionel Richie, Luke Bryan, and Carrie Underwood, after her incredible audition with Carrie's "Jesus, Take the Wheel." Breanna's husband, Austin, accompanied her on the piano, while Carrie held her son, Emerson.

Throughout American Idol season 23 Hollywood Week, Breanna continued to impress with her performances of "You Say," "The Trouble With Love Is," and "Gratitude" in a duet with fellow contestant Rylie O'Neil. In a May 19, 2025, Instagram post, Breanna announced that "Higher" had reached #1 on the iTunes country chart. In the caption of her post, she wrote, "My song charted to #1 on iTunes in the country genre!! Let’s go!!!!! thank you SO much for your and love!!! This is just the beginning." At the time, "Higher" was ranked above the #2 single, runner-up John's original song, "Tell That Angel I Love Her."

After singing for her fans every week on their screens, Breanna will now perform for them live in concert. In an Instagram post, Breanna announced that she'll be one of many American Idol alums performing at the 19/BMG Takeover during CMA Fest on June 4, 2025, at 6th & Peabody in Nashville, Tennessee.

Other American Idol alums who'll appear at the event will be season 23 winner Jamal and runner-up John, Thunderstorm Artis, Kolbi Jordan, Mattie Pruitt, and Gabby Samone; season 22 runner-up Will Moseley and Ajii; season 21's Colin Stough and Wé Ani; and season 20 runner-up HunterGirl. In the caption of the post, Breanna wrote, "Some of the @americanidol Crew will be performing at the CMA fest June 4th!! This will be fun! Are you coming!?!"

This moment has been on my bucket list for years, and getting to finally check it off feels surreal. I’m so grateful for this opportunity and can’t wait to step into that circle. Hope to see y’all there!" Performing at the Grand Ole Opry is a major milestone for music artists, and it's spectacular that Breanna is already about to achieve this dream.
